Yea, I'll come out and say it. I really hate the songs from Frozen. I am not hating on the movie, but the movie is fan-FREAKING-tastic. Easily one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. One of the best stories I have seen in a while too but...those songs...I really just don't like them. I remember being in the theater being excited for this movie and looking forward to the songs but...honestly there's only two songs I could remember: One I absolutely LOVED, First Time in Forever; and one I thought was the worst song of the movie (and I know I'll catch shit for it), Let it Go. I'm not joking. To me, Let it Go sounded like a Hana Montana song. Also, don't tell me that I need to know Broadway in order to appreciate the songs, because I HAVE seen Broadway shows and heard their songs. Let it Go sounds like a factory produced pop song.
THAT being said, that song has the BEST imagery of the entire movie. Hands. Down. I love the snow effects, how she builds the castle, etc. I also know and understand it's a big character development and is significant for the character who is singing it...but...I just didn't like the song.
I found the songs very forgettable and bland. First Time in Forever was the only exception in my opinion. It was fun and powerful, to me. Honestly, after Princess and the Frog and Tangled, I was pretty much expecting amazing songs. In my opinion...this movie didn't deliver it.
However, GO SEE FROZEN IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT! Seriously. Go. Now. WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS! GO!
My favorite song was 'Frozen Heart' and 'Vuelie', but thats because I like those type of songs. 'For the First time in forever' was okay to me, the reprieve was one of the most amazing reprieves i've ever seen in a Disney flick. 'Let it Go' is just that a pop song made to make money. =o= Its okay, just not that old Disney magic we are used to seeing.
I liked Let It Go but I think it was only because of how much I heard it before I went to go see the movie. Like you said, it's like one of those factory produced pop songs and sometimes that's alright to listen to...but in a Disney movie? However, I didn't like the story all that much. The main reason for that is because I don't think that Anna really learned her lesson about love, the setup making her realize she loved him only when she needed to use him to not die. Yes, she saved her sister and it's why I like the movie but I think I've rambled on enough.
xD Ok, you got me there. I guess to me, I would've found the movie a bit more enjoyable if the girl didn't get the guy. You know, stayed a sibling love story. Maybe at the end put hints of them starting to fall in love or even have Kristoff and Elsa start liking each other. The guy that sees the importance and beauty of ice with someone that MAKES ice. Idk, I'm probably thinking too much about it.
I haven't watched Frozen yet but my sister seems to like "Let it go". I thought I was the only one who didn't find that song interesting.
By the way, I have yet to watch this movie but after watching and few clips and hearing most of the songs I am just sold on this one musical. Not sure if you've heard of it or not but, have you ever seen RENT?
