i don't use charcoal too often, though i love the medium, as i usually end up with more on myself than the paper. anyway, this one came out ok though i just couldn't get the scanner to pick up all the detail.
the photo it was drawn from was in the september issue of jane magazine,

this is lovely, i like the way the figure is almost in silhouette, but you can see the detail on looking closer. the highlights on the face are gorgeous, and so difficult to do in charcoal, that's wonderful... my only criticism is that the background looks a bit smudgy, i dont know if this is intentional -if not, i've found that a soft pencil eraser dragged very very gently over the surface of the paper will usually get rid of this.
i would love to see more in this medium!

that this was captured from a photo amazes me. nice interpretation. the use of the medium to obscure detail while providing sensual ambience and the lack of background make this a powerful composition. *art talk off*
I like how you kept the edges fuzzy, gave me a sense of movement/organic.

And sensual... yeah, pretty sensual... I had a really good time looking at this pic, It's not exploding in ur eyes like other deviantions trying to blow u away to impress u... It's pretty calm and full of subtility :) (Smile)
