Hypothetical question: Someone is invited to a convention as a guest of honor, said guest of honor wants to invite someone else of questionable background. Person they invite is a known zoophile/pedo with pictures on the net of their exploits
26 deviants saidUnnacceptable- if they are invited as a guest of honor then they should honor the con and show integrity
2 deviants saidAcceptable - no problem with this

It's a... difficult issue. If things come back that they were more than that, or even if they become involved in a media storm about them for bullshit reasoning (the media rarely if ever cares about truth)... well, you're fucked. Either stand by them regardless or be media friendly. Those are your choices. =/ Is the friendship or the possible media outlook worth more to you? I don't know, I only tangentally see your stuff so I can't even decide what I would pick. Just how I'd think.
We live in a world more based in perception than reality.
I've already burned the friendship relating to the question. I just think it's sad that they would be invited as a guest of honor and then disrespect the con by inviting someone that's a threat to the kids and other people attending. They want this person there so they can laugh at him getting himself into trouble.
All of the info posed in the question is confirmed to be true, so there's not much to question. The person does have a lot of photos online of them engaging in sex with horses and other animals. The pedophilic ones aren't legal in the US, so I don't wanna bother looking/seeing those.
Okay, misread the title. I took "known" more as they had a lot of content of their art involving it, not that they'd engaged in the actual acts. If that was the case? Sorry, but I have little sympathy for them beyond so psychiatry.
As for whomever invited them? If they had any such for knowledge (even an inkling)? That should never been done. Ever.
Anyways, Basically what is happening is someone I know personally rides off the popularity of a character that someone else created, and they're using that popularity to get invited to conventions.
So they were invited to a con later this year, and they plan on going. But, they also want someone from a foreign country to come to the US to said con. The person they wants to come, and has invited from the EU is the one that is the pedo/zoophile. Person is also a racist, a white supremacist, and other things. The regressive left loves to brand people as those things, but this guy actually fits the bill.
Since they are a guest of honor, by wanting to bring this person from the EU to America to attend the con is a massive disrespect to the convention organizers. They're a guest of honor, so if they want to bring a friend at least make it someone that's fucking respectable and not a threat to the kids and parents attending the con with their kids.
When I found out they were associating with this person I decided it was time to burn that bridge, but not before trying to talk some sense into them.
If I ever found any of my friends hanging out with pedos , creeps, or the fucking KKK and not denounce/condemn their beliefs/actions then I would break away from them too.
I'm all for freedom of speech, and were I holding an even wherein a group decided to espouse those sorts of beliefs... well, I wouldn't exclude them based on that. I'd shrug and hope that all the great things my fandom did. Lets present a better argument.
You want to go around breaking local laws on things? Or have done so? Conider at best crimes in absentia at worst convition in abscntia. That's all esta-legat and won't work. I don't know what I'd do... glad I don't have too so far.
Same really. If anyone wanted to go somewhere to proclaim their beliefs, then they should be allowed to do so. No matter how wrong or crazy they are. As long as they do so without causing disruption to the function of the bystanders and what they are there for. But this is just an individual that's likely to get there and cause mischief, like he has at previous conventions i.e Bronycon 2014.
Either way, the con chair is already aware of this person, and they have said that they will be barred from con functions if they show up. They cannot ban him without his real name, so they are trying to enforce a ban through the guest of honor that they invited themselves. Which to me says that their guest of honor isn't being very honorable towards them and their con.
It was kinda sad though, the screenshots I saw of the emails and convos with the con chair showed he was extremely unprofessional. I would expect a con head to be gracious and understanding. But this douche was callous as anything.
