Soldier!Cloud Strife x Soldier!Reader {Part 1 of 2 - Request}
Song: Piko - Crazy for you
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two silvery metals clanged together, highlighted by the Crescent moon in the late night.
Two tired and exahusted, but at the same time fuelled up breaths met each other as the swords crossed.
Certain golden blonde's sky blue eyes pierced into your very own (e/c) ones. You both held victorious smirks on your faces, as if you were sure you both already won. Although, only the faintest ghost of smiles was present on Cloud's lips, but it was still there. Your already shallow-breathing lungs felt as heavy as if they were chain-bound.
Your glistening (e/c) eyes narrowed into thin slits that seemed like the gemstones that were captured within a volcanic cave.
You huffed once again and pulled back, taking your crimson sword with you. The strand of damp (h/c) was plastered in between your eyes and over your nose, but you payed it zero attention. Instead, the pearly toothy grin formed over your sweaty face and you rose your Mako-infused metalic sword, that seemed twice as heavy as it actually and usually is, and struck.
And again.
And again.
Only to be blocked every time by the blonde's heavier one.
The exasperated groan reluctantly left your dry throat, which made Cloud grin. Now it was his turn to strike.
And he did, as many times as you did.
The same tired way you attacked him, he attacked back. This went on for about two or three minutes, your exahusted breathing filled the simulation chamber. The two of you were now basically supporting each other while leaning on the crossed swords.
Your already tired legs threatened to give you away, nearly letting you fall down onto the dirty floor of the Mako Canyon. The disgusting, brown dust made it's way to your nostrils, making your breathing through your nose almost impossible without sneezing. Both your and Cloud's hair was damp from sweat, caused by the extremly long sparring both of you insisted on.
The air reeked of the salty sea and the dust that found it's way to the surface of your skin. Although it was late in the evening, the heavy and stubborn air has decided to be particulary obnoxious and hot.
But also, the gorgeous navy blue sky way decorated with milllions and millions of beautiful, tiny stars that simply glowered upon the dusty ground. That, of course, meant that the very morning is going to be piercing cold, especially because it was already late winter. Thank goodness for the scientists that made this simulation chamber temperature adjustable.
Cloud's baby blue eyes became slightly red from the sweat that rolled down from his pale forehead. His golden strings of perfectly spiked hair were slightly clinging to his face, almost identical way your now wet hair clung to your face. You blew some of your hair out of your face, only for it to stubbornly return in it's previous place.
The taller blonde smiled softly at you and your determined expression, even though you were struggling to stand on your quiverring feet.
Suddenly, he did something you weren't expecting.
Not.
At.
All.
Cloud removed his sword gently and pulled back, trying his best to straighten his back. This made him abou 20 centimeters taller than yourself. Confused, you did the same and cocked your head to the side, slightly reminding him of a confused kitten. You lowered your sword to your side, slightly gasping for the honey sweet air, that really didn't feel like being breathed in. Cloud stared deeply in your somewhat furious, yet beautiful (e/c) orbs.
He continued to stare, as if trying to melt you with his gaze
"What?"
Came out as more like a statement than a question. When he didn't even acknowledge your question and simply continued to space out, you groaned and facepalmed, hitting your nose slightly. This was starting to get on your nerves, especially because you were tired from all this sparring and it was getting late. Of course, some practicing was great from time to time, but this was simply getting ridiculous! Not that you didn't enjoy getting beaten up with your beloved one, but it really kills a person after five or more hours of sparring.
And!
On the top of everything, your beloved boy was simply staring at you as if he has turned into stone. This was really starting to tick you off. First, he nearly kills you and now he's basically ignoring you?
"Heeeey! Are you aliv-" You were cut off by something cold and sharp pressed against your throat. You gulped hard and tried to peer down to see that it was Cloud's sword, but it wasn't pressed so much to hurt you. It was pressed simply so much to cause you a little cut if you were to move. You looked back at Cloud to see that his once soft and gentle eyes were narrowed and the frown was present on his face. Your lips were slightly parted in a gasp and your eyes wide in slight fear. What is the meaning of this?
"C-Cloud... Have you gone insa-" The pair of soft lips cut you off from your rambling and finally hushed you. Your mind was clouded, your ears were buzzing and your lips  closed themselves, kissing him back. Cloud had to lean down a bit, since he was significaly taller than you. You had completely forgot about the metal sword that was still pressed against your vulnerable throat, as well as your own which you nearly dropped. Cloud pulled away and kissed your cheek, removing the sword from your throat and your eyes slowly opened again.
You couldn't help but simply stare at the golden haired Soldier. What just happened?
His baby blue eyes softened once again and he flashed you that pearly white grin of his, returning to his soft self
"________... You talk too much." He simply stated before pivoting and walking towards the exit of the simulation chamber and stopping the simulation.
Cloud pressed some of the colorful, glowing buttons that were situated on the large control board, making it almost impossible to recognise which button does what. The glowing cerulean letters appeared on the wall sized, black display and it read 'Abort mission?' in a holographic, glowing shape. Cloud apparently pressed 'Proceed' and the machine seemed to obey, since the room imideately began to collapse into beautiful shimmers and glow.
You watched with wide eyes and mouth slightly agape as the Mako canyon, along with Mako reactor, crumble down into the binary numbers and digital pixels, almost seeming like you've never seen this display before. That navy blue night sky that was decorated with millions of silvery blinking fireflies just a few moments ago was now nothing more than a monochromatic firework of numerical pixels.
The dusty, brown ground painted with streaks of Mako below you began dissapearing into the oblivion, soon to be swapped with the chromed, silver floor of the ShinRa building. The lovely azure sea in the distance, seeming as if it was powdered with the star dust, simply sunk into it's bottom, leaving in it's place nothing more but some of the operating machinery.
You nearly dropped your sword after seeing the simulation slowly crumbling, but you compossed yourself and grabbed that hilt tightly, lowering the sword to your side. Before he walked out of the door, Cloud flashed you a warm hearted smile over his shoulder, then proceeded to walk out and quickly pressed some buttons from the outside. Right before you managed to figure that he is about to leave you locked in here, your regained your senses and sprinted towards the door.
Unfortunately for you, the doors were faster than you and they slid shut right before your nose, leaving you locked inside.
You gasped and pressed your palms on the door, staring at Cloud on the other side. After regaining your senses, the frown overcame your face and you began banging on the door. Cloud couldn't help but laugh at your helpless face and your distress that he actually put you in. The fury began forming in your veins, along with despair. You kicked the thick, metal door.
No use...
"Cloud! Let me out this instant! You hear me?! Cloud!"
You yelled, trying to get your voice to reach through the heavy door, but to no avail. Cloud only made that silly grimace and put his palm behind his back in a teasing manner, as if he had not heard you. But of course he did. You weren't that dumb, for crying out loud!
As you continued your struggles to get out, Cloud only laughed harder and harder. You felt so betrayed, but not so much offended. This behaviour of his was more like something the certain cerulean eyed ravenette would do, rather than your spiky blonde. This situation really held no meaning, yet you were teased to no end by your more than beloved boyfriend.
What has gotten into him?!
Suddenly, he stopped laughing and smirked in a sinister way and turned around to leave, waving his hand goodbye over his shoulder. You paled out and stopped your hysteria, only for it to be replaced by panic at the thought that you are going to be left here all alone, praying that someone is going to pass by and let you out.
"C-Cloud! Wait! Don't go! Don't leave me! Cloud!!"
You continued to yell and slam your hands on the door, but of course he didn't budge and simply left, leaving you standing defeated behind the chromed material. Your shoulders slumped in defeat and your eyes beginning to slowy tear a bit.
"Cloud..."
You were still facing the hallway where he had just left, abandoning you and leaving you all alone in a cold and shut down chamber. You leaned your head on the hard door and slid down to the floor, slumping down like a punching bag that just received the final blow. Why would he leave you like that? If this was suppossed to be some kind of joke, it really was no longer funny. It's not that you didn't like jokes or having fun, but being locked up all alone in a rapidly cooling, metal and heavy operating machinery equipped chamber was absolutely no fun.
'What if nobody comes around and I stay here all alone untill someone decides to train? It could take days! Since everyone is busy with missions and the cadet trainings, nobody is going to use this simulation chamber or even notice that I'm missing. Aah! What to do... Wait. I think I brought my cellphone...'
The thought made you brighten up a bit, so you quickly scrambled from the cold and uninviting floor, then headed to where you had left your long, leather coat. The poor garment has been thrown somewhere aside when the two of you continued your training, finding the innocent piece of clothing as something that would be in your way. You looked around a bit, trying to remember where have you thrown it.
The squeaking of your heavy leather boots filled the now empty chamber as you wandered around, scanning your cold and chromed surroundings with you glowing (e/c) orbs. It really didn't take you a lot of walking to find your beautiful, long black coat strewn over some sort of generator. Thankful it didn't cause any malfunction or fire from the heated machine, you picked the piece of clothing up and held it with your left hand in the air, rummaging through the deep pockets with your right one.
"Let's see now... A chapstick, tissues, bubblegums, aaaand...
A cellphone!"
You finally pulled out of your right pocket the little gadget you had never realised how much you actually love. You flipped the top part of your pitch plack cellphone up and rose the life-saving thing in the air as far as your toes and your outstretched arms had let you. Almost like the 'Lion King', only a bit different~ You were in such a hurry to call someone, anyone, to come and get you out of here, to notice that the four white bars that marked the signal in the room had completely vanished.
Instead, the only thought that was now running through your messed up head was the question if someone's going to answer if you called. But you discarded that thought and openned your 'contacts', then ran through it.
"Hm... Oh! Genesis! He always comes to my aid and helps me with whatever I need, so why wouldn't he now?"
You murmured to yourself and pressed the dial button, then pressed the cellphone close to your ear and waited.
And waited.
And waited a little more.
Then the vigorous and repeated beeping was heard from the other side of the line, signaling that the call could not be made. Your already defeated (e/c) orbs had widenned and you stared at the poor cellphone screen as it said with big, bald letters;
'NO SIGNAL'
A groan of frustration left your exahusted throat and your head hung down in defeat, a couple of strands of your hair hiding your face.
The hand rose itself, getting ready to smash the little gadget into the wall. But just before you did, you brought your hand back down and sighed at it. It wasn't the cellphone's fault, after all.
'How come there's signal in the entire building, even in the basement, but not in here?!'
With your shoulders slumped, you dragged yourself back to the sealed metal boards and plopped down in defeat with your back facing the doors. What now? There was certainly no way you could get out of here by yourself, for everything was basically hermetically closed. But... Why did Cloud leave you here all by yourself in the first place? Was it a joke? No... Jokes are suppossed to be funny, but this was getting ridiculous! Maybe he had planed to play a prank on you and come back a little later for you? But... What if he had forgotten? Or no. He would never forget about you, like you would never about him.
With a mental sigh, you rose your right hand, the other one placed limply over your knee, and began hitting the door with the back of your fist. Your banging on the door didn't last long because you were already tired, so it turned into a somewhat soft knocking instead. It was more subconsciously than anything else, but your arm was still desperately moving by itself
"Heeey... Is anyone there...?"
~~~~~~~~{1 Hour Timeskip}~~~~~~~~~~~

That was more like narrating to yourself, not really thinking someone is actually going to show up. Your gaze remained locked on on one of these really big, square windows that were settled right in front of you. The darkness was already slowly set upon the land, seeing it was becoming quite late. The two of you came here after the mission you had and it was about 4 p.m. But the sparring took a little longer and you finished at 8. It was almost time when the lights went out in the empty rooms, for crying out loud!

Something like pure white rose petals began falling down and against the windows. At first, you had thought that it might be just your lack of sleep and exahustion, but then your eyes proved you wrong. Your knuckles knocked thrice again against the freezing metal and your slightly dry throat managed to let out a soft groan, your eyes closing themselves in distaste at the slight scratching.

"Some help, maybe? No?"

Again, you tried. But met nothing by the silence and buzzing of the many machines, from which you knew how to operate with only few. A soft sigh escaped your lips and you pushed yourself up from the really cold, marbled floor. The leather clad feet of yours dragged themselves in exassparation, you really wanted to get out of here and simply go to sleep. You leaned on the shallow frame of the hermeticaly sealed and glistenning window, gazing out into the dark blue void.

The shimmering sparkles seemed to flow against the wind, turning into the soft nebula as they fell on the now pure white ground. Slight shiver went up your arms and down your spine as the outside coolness found it's way inside through the glass. This was so childish and stupid in your opinnion, for you could've done some other things rather than pretending to be a potted plant!

A little sigh escaped your quiverring lips. You did not even realise that you were shiverring until then. Since there was no requirement for heating this room up, the heaters were shut down automatically. You looked around for your coat, which you had in your hands about an hour ago. It didn't take you long to remember you had thrown him over some sort of computer monitor, which was thankfully turned off.

You took the leather coat, which seemed even colder than yourself, and slipped it on over your thin, black T-shirt. The sudden impact of chilly material with your already cold skin made you teeth chatter unpurposely and with them, your entire ribcage and jaw. Instinctively, you hugged yourself and snuggled into the coat, which seemed to do absolutely no job in getting you warmer.

Slowly you walked back to the door and sat down, curling almost in a little ball. It was becoming so cold that your breath began to fog in front of you when you exhaled. You reached into your pocket and pulled out the cellphone, trying to see if there's maybe any signal. Just when you closed your eyes and sighed, about to return it to the pocket, the little black gadget buzzed and you jumped, nearly dropping it to the floor. You hastily brought it with your shaky hands closer to your face, your eyes gleaming and soft, hopefull smile on your face, and you read the message that you had just received:

'From: Gen

"Where are you? Nobody has seen you and we are worried."

21:57'

Quickly, you pushed the buttons of the small gadget and typed in the message, full of hope that the signal would remain here for at least a couple of more minutes, just enough so the message reaches Genesis. You huffed a small puff of your white breath in a haste, trying your best to type and send the message as soon as possible, seeing you would basically freeze to death it you were to stay here for much longer. With cold and nearly numb fingers, you managed to not to drop your small black gadget and with shaky hands pressed the 'Send' button, to reply to your friend with a message which read:

'To: Gen

"Simulation chamber No.2 Help!

22:-

-NO SIGNAL-"

The palely glowing screen threw back at you, the big bold letters flashing rapidly as if they were going to dissapear. This of course, was in no case a good thing. It took you about a full minute to realize that the notification your mobile phone was so kind to send you, read that there was no signal and that your message cannot be sent. You blinked your (e/c) eyes and your mouth were slightly agape, slowly coming to your by now very tired brain that you were not getting out of here anytime soon. The panic pretty soon set in and your lips began quiverring, your hands shaking the poor, innocent device back and forth as if it was a living person that just harmed you in some way

"No! No, no, no, no, NO!!"

You yelled at the cellphone, still ignoring it's flashing screen. Your hand dropped over your knee, burrying your face in the palm of your other hand and your quiverring lips let out a couple of reluctant sobs. You no longer cared about why Cloud did this to you, about how are you suppossed to get out. The only thing that was on your mind right now was that you wanted out of here.

You rose your face a bit and bit down on your knuckles to stop the pathetic sobbing, which seemed too stubborn to stop. You gazed at the cellphone that was still in your other hand for the time, but it seemed that today was the unluckiest day of yours ever. The little device blinked a couple of more times, then the little screen it had blacked out, leaving you sitting in a complete darkness, iluminated only by the lights in the hallway that always glew and the post lamps that were settled outside in the brilliant snow.

By now, there was absolutely nothing that could surprise you. You closed your eyes, feeling your eyelids becoming heavy. With a deliberate sigh, you slipped your cellphone back to your coat pocket. If you were going to spend the night here, you were at least going to try to get some sleep. You crossed your arms and tucked them comfortably between your coat and your sides, trying to do your best to keep yourself at least a little bit warmer. The (e/c) orbs were soon hidden by your soft eyelids, your head hung down. You already felt yourself becoming drowzy and knew that it won't take you long to fall asleep.

Silly, but you had just remembered that Sephiroth has told you once during the winter mission, that hanging your head low prevents your teeth from chattering. Surprisingly, he was right and it worked, which was much of a relief to your jaw. It didn't take you long to start steadying your breathing and the dream come to your mind, leaving you in a cold, but yet peaceful little slumber.

Your dreams seemed to abandon you, too, tonight. Everything you dreamed about was blank, black screen. And nothing more. Then, out of nowhere, Cloud appeared in front of your face, smiling like nothing happened. You had tried asking him why he had left you behind and he simply kissed you, telling you that 'it's a secret'. Then, your dream blurred and returned to it's original, black state.

Suddenly, there was a soft ray of beautiful white light somewhere in the end of the pitch black void of your dreams and you decided to follow it, seeing there was nothing you could lose. Your feet seemed surprisingly light and you went running, chasing after the fruit of your imagination in hope it could help you.

But...

It seemed that the light was standing still, fixated on something that had flat surface and reflection abilities. Confused, you cocked your head to the side and began walking towards it, only to realise that you are no longer dreaming. You cracked your eyelids open and blinked twice owlishly, closing one eye for the purpouse of focusing the other one better. You rose to a crouch and squinted at the light that reflected right back into your face. But it had to come from somewhere, didn't it?

You got up and held your right arm in front of you, just to be sure it's nothing harmful. It took only a couple of steps to reach the place where the pristine white, yet somewhat blurred light was settled. Staring at it for several seconds, you followed with your gaze the trail it made in the air. The light seemed to come from some sort of lamp or maybe a flashlight. You didn't even realize that you were following the trail like a lost child, moving your body without your own will.

Finally, the trail led you to the door and you faced the little window the door had. The light has been basically blinding, making you shield your eyes. Another thing you didn't even notice was that someone was standing outside and knocking on the door softly, as if trying to get your attention. You shielded your narrowed (e/c) eyes and slowly approached the metalic doors, light shining brighter by every step you took.

"Hello? Is anyone there?"

Your shaky and raspy voice asked carefully, not wanting to get into more trouble than you already were in.

"________? Is that you?"

Another voice came through the door, but it seemed somehow muffled because of the poor acoustics of the room.

"Yes! It's me! Please, help me get out?"

You asked hopefully, soon realising that it must be someone from SOLDIER or the ShinRa staff, so none of them would possibly harm you. From the outside, you heard a humming noise as an approval signal, then some rumbling and clacking, the person was probably looking for something. After that, the exclamation sound was heard and then finally the person fidgeted with the lock. Or the card reader, if you like. Now able to see due to the person averting the flashlight to the floor, leaving him lightly iluminated. Suddenly, you heard a loud beep and the entire room iluminated with various lights, the three plain lights above the door turning blaring green. Something inbetween two parts of the doors clicked and the parts separated, making a clear passage through them.

You squealed in delight and let out a huff of relief, then jumped a little and charged towads the person. As soon as you reached him, you brought him in a tight hug to express your gratitude, not really caring if the taller man was someone from your superiors or your cadets. Apparently, the person realised how relieved you were and he chuckled happily, bringing you in a hug.

"Cloud sent me to get you."

Your eyes widenned and you shot your head up, only to realise that the person you were currently hugging was your colleague and one of your closest friends; Zack the Puppy. You didn't know wheter to grin or frown, for Cloud didn't forget about you, but he didn't come back to get you himself, either. The ravenette tilted his head to the side in a confusion, still looking down at you.

"What's the matter, _______? Oh, you didn't expect me to come, did you? Heheh... Sorry."

He chuckled and let go of you, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. You only shook your head slightly, cracking a tired smile at the taller azure eyed male.

"It's not that... It's just... Ah, nevermind. But you said he sent you? Where is Cloud now?"

You asked with your head cocked to the side, similar to Zack. He smiled and he helped you put on your coat so it's not longer only slumped over your shoulders. After that, he started walking towards somewhere and motioned you over his shoulder to follow

"Come on, I'll take you to him!"

Zack exclaimed and continued walking, you had to run for a moment or two to catch up with him. While he hummed something to himself, you couldn't help but wonder why would Cloud want to see you know, after about three hours later when he had locked you up and left you all alone. Once again, you were both angry and confused, yet somewhat happy that you were out of that dark chamber and that now you had someone with you. Could it be that he in the matter of fact really forgot about you after some time and that's why he didn't return? But Genesis sent you a message saying that everyone was worried about you, surely someone would ask Cloud first about that.

You suddenly brought your walking to the halt and quickly tapped the taller man on the upper arm, on which he stopped walking as well and turned to face you.

"Hey, Zack?"

He hummed in a signal for you to continue.

"You haven't answered my question; Where is Cloud now?"

Zack gave a small sigh and then smiled in an understanding manner and extended his muscular arm to ruffle your already messy hair slightly. He then turned around and continued to walk, motioning you once again to follow him as he began explaining.

"Cloud couldn't come and get you because he was planning something and he needed permission for that. So, he went to our ex-superiors, now colleagues. I really don't know who, but someone and asked for permission to carry out his little 'surprise', how he put it. I guess he got it, so he asked me to go and get you. Since he forgot where he left you, I had to check out every single chamber untill I found you!"

The cerulean eyed ravenette exclaimed with random hands flailing and a hearty chuckle, for he probably had nothing better to do and he apparently didn't mind retrieving his best friend his girlfriend for him. You averted your gaze from smiling Zack to the slightly iluminated hallway in front of you and hummed in a thinking manner. The hyperactive puppy has seemed to notice your slight concern, so he laughed friendly and brought you in a some sort of friendly half hug.

"Don't bother your pretty little head with bad thoughts, I'm sure you'll be surprised in a good way, _______~"

A wide grin made it's way onto your lips, somehow believing Zack on his word; For he had never wronged, lied or betrayed you. He was of of your best friends, after all. Satisfied with his answer, you tucked your hands to your sides under your coat and smiled, continuing on your way. Now that you knew that Cloud did not have an intention to leave you all alone for good there and only did that to keep you from going away somewhere where he won't find you later, somehow made you less angry.

But now, there was another thing on your pretty little mind;

What was this surprise Zack was talking about?

I guess you might just as well find out~
