Lucy and Oliva are the "assistants" and bodyguards to Silver-Haired Man and the Horned-Glasses Man, respectively. They have also gone through a unique brainwashing, reprogramming and mind control process that makes them both utterly loyal to their masters, and those above them in the Institute, as well as making them amenable for a further, special kind of enhancement...

After awakening their dormant telepathic abilities in the two women, they then underwent a "cyber enhancement" process where their minds with implanted with several different types of neural processing chips, and their bodies implanted further with thousands of nanobot machines, linking together in a complex network. This enables them to, coupled with their telepathic abilities, to interact seamlessly with any electronic device without the need of a keyboard or other external device, and to computate complex algorithms in mere seconds. They have the ability to be "walking encyclopedias" of information as they constantly glean and process new info on a daily basis. It is thought to give them enhanced reflexes, agility and hand-eye coordination as well..

The cyber-suits they each wear are also products of the Institute, designed to fit snugly and perfectly to their bodes and aid in the process of "hands free" communication between them and any electronic device. It, like other bodysuits developed by the Institute, also sends out a constant stream of signals into the bodies and minds of the wearers that continuously brainwashes them into complete servitude.
