Anti-My Little Pony Stamp

Yeah, I know. This stamp looks like crap, and that's because I'm not very experienced when it comes to making these (as you've probably guessed already with this one from a few months back), so just bear with me, here.

So, anyway, the subject of My Little Pony was brought up at a forum that I frequent, and from there, I told everyone that I thought it was garbage. Can you guess what happened next? I get chewed out for it by a select few people. Not only that, but one of them in particular went ballistic over my opinion, even though I made it plainly clear that I was in no way trying to belittle or make myself seem better than anyone who likes that show. Not only that, but I ended up being accused of being sexist and bigoted in the process. I mean, really? Really? Are you kidding me? I don't discriminate against women; I'm all for them having equal rights, and I don't consider either gender to be any better than the other. Not to mention the fact that I have tons of female fancharacters, along with the fact that I almost always prefer female protagonists over the male ones. I'm one of the last people who should ever be considered sexist, "bigoted", or "prejudiced" in any way whatsoever.

Do you know what this tells me? This just goes to show that you cannot say anything, anything about the show that isn't "OMG, AWSUM!!!111ONEONE!!! BRONY4LIFE!!11ONEONE! *Insert other pony talk BS here*" without somebody making an issue out of it. If you even dare to say anything about My Little Pony that's even the slightest bit negative, you pretty much become public enemy number one. Well, excuse the hell out of me for not being a grown man who obsesses over a cartoon that was clearly designed for little girls. Now, don't get me wrong... I'm not saying that everyone in the fandom is like this; only some of the ones I've come across. I've seen some sane pony fans, but unfortunately, there are so few of them in number.

Ever since all that drama started nearly a week ago, I've been having an internal struggle regarding whether or not I should give the show a chance, and I did just that by watching the first episode yesterday. I'll tell you... Just simply typing that into the search engine alone was enough to make me want to puke. To add insult to injury, the theme song was even more cringe-worthy. Admittedly, the show wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be, but at the same time, I still don't like it. It's way too kiddy/girly for my taste, and I'm saying this as someone who's watched The Powerpuff Girls in the past, and enjoys Sailor Moon. My Little Pony, on the other hand, is where I draw the line. Again, it wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be, but I still have no desire whatsoever to watch another episode. It's just not for me.

There, I finally got that off my chest. Although, something tells me that I may be getting some backlash over here, too, but whatever.

...Wow. Really? So far, just about all the replies you've made boil down to "No, MLP is good because I said so, and anyone who thinks otherwise is dumb!" I thank you kindly for proving my point about this fandom, which, quite frankly, I had very little respect for to begin with, given how so many of them are unable to handle dissenting opinions of any kind.

I didn't mean to be mean and insulting to you. I'm very sorry for that. I just want to show my hate towards Anti-My Little Ponyism. I don't want you to be dead, I want this uttermost hatred to be dead (which I know probably won't happen and there's nothing I can do about that). I've never done that before, but I should've said it like a normal, civilized human being, but get super wroth by this, because MIP:FiM had such a gigantic impact on so many people and their lives. That's amazing! I didn't say you were dumb. If you don't like the show, that altogether fine. It doesn't bother me. I just think you're being way too harsh and negative. The creator, Lauren Faust (one of the greatest women in animation and the female, 21st century spiritual successor to Walt Disney as one put it) once said about the negative images some people have about grown-up men who like the show, Quote: There are a lot of people who when they first hear about men watching a show for little girls, they’re taken to a creepy place. They think there’s something wrong with that, something devious about it. I think that’s unfortunate. I don’t think you have to have bad intentions to like little girls or to like the things that they like and it’s upsetting to me that people jump to those conclusions. I think it’s unfair to men and I think it’s unfair to girls and women, unquote. I just want peace, concord and tolerance for folks throughout the world who likes My Little Pony or not. If you disagree with my thoughts, please don't lynch me!

Fair enough. Admittedly, you're actually right about the wording in my stamp being a bit on the harsh side. That's because at the time I made this stamp about eight years ago, it was done for the purpose of blowing off steam because of some pony-related drama I had gotten mixed up in at the time. Even though I had never once insisted that anybody was an idiot or anything else of the sort for liking the show, I still had some douchebags berating me for my opinion, and even going so far as to claim that I was "sexist" because of it. That part especially pissed me off, which led to the creation of this stamp in the first place.

With that said, I agree with most of what you've said, and I'd like to have peace, as well. I haven't the time, nor the interest, in getting into more MLP-related arguments, but it seems that as long as this stamp (and the accompanying rant) remains in my gallery, then I'm destined to get into one at least once per year , and that's because a lot of people misinterpret this stamp as being an attack on everyone in the fandom, when it was specifically geared towards those who act as if disliking the show is some sort of unspeakable crime.

"It's way too kiddy/girly."

HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT HORRIBLE STATEMENT!! You better watch your mouth, Buster! And another thing, MLP: FiM is not garbage! So screw you for thinking that!

I mean, I am a pony fan. But I respect your opinion. Not everyone is going to like the same things.

"Not everyone is going to like the same things."

Oh yeah, I agree with that. I love MLP: FiM with all my heart. But I know you can't force somebody to love the show. Let them decide if they wanna love/like or hate/dislike it. It is a fantastic TV show but it's not for everyone.

You're welcome and I 100% agree with you; MLP: FIM is overrated garbage. I just wish that people would stop shoving it own our throats on DA, it's very annoying.
