They say a warrior died today,
Or so they'd seen, or so they'd heard...
His pennant fluttered to the ground and stirred
A final breath of dust.
They say he was a righteous man
Always true, and kind, and just
A man to call upon and trust
Beside you in a fight.
They say his strength was paralleled
By none who'd ever walk his path
That those who'd suffer through his wrath
Would surely lose the battle.
They say he faced a hundred foe
All alone, a spear in hand
As bodies fell upon this land
And spears around him splintered.
They say he feared no living beast
That villains cowered in his wake
And demons in the dark would quake
When sunlight cast his shadow.
They say he brought an age of peace
A world in which the meek rejoice
The timid rise to find their voice
For he had taught them courage.
They say he never dared look back
At all those days of fame and glory
The hero never heard his story
And none who tell it knows his name.
They say he died most honorably.
Though none had seen
