The heart is not only flesh.
It is memory, warmth, and light carried quietly.
The Light Inside the Heart explores the anatomical heart as a vessel —
holding emotion, resilience, and tenderness in changing light.
Each image shows the heart glowing differently:
soft, warm, fragile, enduring.
This is not about pain.
It is about what remains luminous even when exposed.
HASELNUSSKROKANT UPDATE
🖤🖤 Little Hazel Update 🖤
Hi, @haselnusskrokant fans!
At the moment, I can't reply to comments, notes or messages, nor can I upload new artworks. However, I still see and appreciate every favourite, watch, purchase and kind word. Thank you so much for your patience and support!
In the meantime, why not take the opportunity to dive into my rather extensive archive? There are many older series, hidden gems and forgotten favourites waiting to be rediscovered. The gallery and shop are still fully open, and every view, favourite and purchase means the world to me and helps me continue creating.
For updates and little behind-the-scenes notes, feel free to visit Softember. You're warmly invited to wander through its tiny aesthetic worlds and stay in touch while Hazel takes an unexpected little pause.
Thank you for being here and for supporting independent art. It truly means more than words can say.

The Blue of Wonder: Hockney - Staying Awake
The Blue of Wonder
David Hockney and the Art of Staying Awake
A Softember Journal Entry
When I heard that David Hockney had died, my first thought was not of a painting.
It was of colour.
A particular blue.
The kind of blue that seems impossible until Hockney paints it.
The kind of blue that belongs somewhere between memory and sunlight.
The kind of blue that makes you believe the world is brighter than you remembered.
For a moment I found myself staring out of a window.
Not at anything remarkable.
Just trees.
A quiet sky.
A few drifting clouds.
And I wondered if that was perhaps the most Hockney reaction possible.
To stop.
To look.
To notice.
Because if there is one thing David Hockney spent a lifetime teaching us, it is this:
The world is still astonishing.
Not because it changes.
Because we do.
And because we forget.
Again and again.
We forget how extraordinary ordinary things are.
A road.
A chair.
A tree.
A vase of flowers.
The morning light on a kitchen wall.
The shadow cast by a
Recognized
Recognized
There is a strange loneliness in being seen by many and known by few.
People recognize your face.
Your art.
Your words.
Your carefully chosen photographs.
The version of you that lives on their screen.
Some admire you.
Some desire you.
Some imagine they know you.
But recognition is not the same as being known.
People often fall in love with an idea.
A projection.
A story they have written in their own minds.
They see what they need.
What they miss.
What they hope for.
Very few see the whole person.
The tired you.
The hopeful you.
The complicated you.
The one who carries old wounds and impossible dreams.
The one who is strong for everyone else and sometimes exhausted by the weight of it.
For a long time, I believed being noticed was enough.
A kind word.
A message arriving after midnight.
A lingering glance.
Proof that I existed in someone else's thoughts.
But attention is restless.
It comes and goes like weather.
To be seen is different.
To be seen is to have someone notice
DROP DEAD
A small meditation inspired by Olivia Rodrigo's song "drop dead".
Some songs are not really about heartbreak. They are about the moment after. The moment when you stop waiting for your old self to return and begin becoming someone new.

Sometimes nothing changes.
The room is the same.
The sky is the same.
The old fears are still sitting in their familiar corners.
And yet something is different.
Not because the world transformed overnight.
Not because every wound suddenly healed.
But because one morning you wake up and realize that you are no longer waiting for someone else to save you.
The grief is still there.
The longing is still there.
The unanswered questions are still there.
But they no longer sit at the center of the table.
You do.
Softember is not about becoming fearless.
It is about becoming present.
About standing in your own life again.
About noticing the sunlight on the wall.
The warmth of a cup between
