So, I got a little side tracked with some non-fractal digital art that I wanted to explore. I have had little experience with the techniques involved, so it was a fairly interesting to discover some of the principles on my own.
I think I have all the tools in place to generate another work I've been thinking about for a couple of weeks now based on polynomial Newton fractals. I improved one of my subroutines to give a 2.25x average boost in performance! Hooray! Regardless, though, it will take significant computational resources (I estimate around 28 hours of core processing time for that big project).
I'm also thinking about trying out some more Newton fractals, but using non-polynomial functions. I have some ideas, that I think might produce some interesting patterns, but I won't know until I code it up and render a few! So, watch for those!

Progress Notes
Medical school exam is over, hooray! I'm working on some new software to assist in coloring fractals. A few more Newton escape-time fractals are on the way and a slightly more computationally-intensive project is in progress too! Updates soon, I think.
Exam this week
Studying for a medical school exam this week. Updates on Thursday (3 Sept 2009) maybe?
