Luther Strode is just your average nerd until he sends away for a bodybuilding course from an old comic book, one that works a whole lot better than he ever imagined. His new-found strength and strange talents make school a lot easier, but they've also caused some very, very bad people to take a very, very keen interest in him. Things will never be the same for Luther Strode...if he survives.

Here's the official Image Comics release:

Image Bulks Up with The Strange Talent of Luther Strode!

Berkeley, CA – 11 July 2011 – THE STRANGE TALENT OF LUTHER STRODE from Image Comics already has fans asking: superhero or slasher? Writer Justin Jordan and artist Tradd Moore aren't ready to say, but in October, their debut six-part series will begin to tell the tale of a young antihero who gets exactly what he wished for... and then some!

"The obvious inspiration for THE STRANGE TALENT OF LUTHER STRODE is the old Charles Atlas type courses that used to be advertised, along with Sea Monkeys and X-Ray specs, in the back of comics," explained Jordan. "I was thinking about that and started wondering what would happen if it really worked. What if you found this program that suddenly allowed you to start kicking ass after having sand kicked in your face for most of your life? How would you handle that? What do you do when you have the power to turn the tables on the people who've been hurting you?"

"I love drawing ridiculous fight scenes, stupid amounts of gore, and people getting punched extremely hard," Moore added, "so if you enjoy looking at any of those things, then you're in for a good time."

Added Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson, "Justin pitched Luther Strode to me back in November, and I was immediately impressed by how fully realized his and Tradd's vision for this series was. I'd put Justin and Tradd in the same class as first-timers like Jonathan Hickman and The Luna Brothers, guys we literally pulled out of the submissions pile who went on to produce some truly amazing work. Everyone who's seen and read this stuff has been blown away."

THE STRANGE TALENT OF LUTHER STRODE begins with a scrawny kid who's fed up with his lack of physical prowess. Luther Strode plans to make some improvements by way of a mail order book that promises to help him bulk up and buff out! Amazingly, the program works far better than young Luther expected. In fact, he begins to liken his new-found physique and abilities to those of a superhero! But can he continue to think of himself as a superhero when the effects of his mysterious abilities look more like a slasher film?

THE STRANGE TALENT OF LUTHER STRODE #1, a 32-page full color comic book that will appeal to fans of Kick-Ass and INVINCIBLE, will be available for order in the August issue of Previews Catalog and goes on sale October 5, 2011 for $2.99.

Hey, folks, this month over at Zudacomics two friends of mine are competing. Adam Moore aka :iconlaemeur: did QUEER ROMANCE and Julia Bax aka :iconjuliabax: drew MR. TRILDOK SINGS THE BLUES.

Sadly, Adam's comic was stuck since the start on the fifth position and never moved up, which is a shame since QUEER ROMANCE is a hilarious retro anthology-like webcomic featuring Adam's trademark beautiful artwork and some very clever writing. Perhaps TOO clever, that's why people didn't give it chance. A shame.

On the other side, Julia's comic has been on the top since the start, and is currently struggling to return to first place. I'd kindly ask my friends and those who've voted for my past Zuda comics to check Mr. Trildok and vote for it, if you want. The writing is TOP NOTCH and the artwork is beautiful and very loose, Julia is one of the most talented comic creators I know. Plus, like the comic industry in general, Zudacomics is in dire need of some more women creators, so voting for her comic would also help solve that :)

So... I've been searching around my DeviantArt page and gallery for a while now, feeling rather dumb, you know? The reason is that I just can't find a goddamn link to my scraps! In the old ages, young friends, before all this sassy design, DeviantArt was an uglier, stiffer animal, BUT, and here's the whole point, there was a very CLEAR link that would take you into your scraps! Now they seem to exist on a magical limbo, where no human eyes are meant to pry. You may exile one of your lesser deviations there, but, just like dumping radioactive waste down on the Marianas Trench, don't expect nobody else to ever see it.

Perhaps this is a sort of silent but stern punishment the DA people came up with to keep people from uploading unfinished artwork?

Or maybe I'm partially blind and the link's RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE. If that's the case, help this fragile old man locate his long lost sketches and half-assed drawings.

PS: I looked in the site's Help and, according to them, the link SHOULD be here:

After a really hard fight, we in the last minute managed to take a lead and WON THE ZUDA COMPETITION! We are really happy, we're still bouncing around so forgive me if I make little sense.

I'd like to thank the many, many friends and colleagues that gave us a hand and helped us promote our comic here on DA, on their journals and even doing some art, thank you so much, this sounds corny but we only won because you all got together and helped us.
