Untitled-3 by Soap-Committee

Hey guys, just letting you know that I'm way more active (in both posting art and chattin', if you want) on Twitter and Tumblr:

[Rebecca's Twitter]
[Rebecca's Tumblr]

That is all; hope to see you there!

(Love, Rebecca/Soap 8D )
[STATUS: 8/22/2016] Closed while I continue to work on way cool games; check back in a couple of months!

DETAILS

  • If you're interested, please send an email to SOAPERLY@GMAIL.COM with a description of the character and which of the above styles you're looking for.
  • After we agree on a quote/due date, full upfront payment is preferred (or half upfront and half upon completion, if it's a large order). My turnaround time is within one month of accepting payment, but I'm flexible if it’s urgent!
  • I'll next send you the preliminary sketch for your review. You can inform me of any changes or fixes (one round of preliminary edits only, please, unless I do something boneheaded of course).
  • With your final approval, I'll begin work and will deliver your high-rez image by the agreed date.

ALSO

  • If there are any examples of my art that you like the most, let me know! This often helps me narrow which "look" or "mood" to put into your commission.
  • Final Note: Y'all know what subjects I draw and where my strengths lie (LADIES), but I'll always do my best at anything outside that bubble!

Untitled-3 by Soap-Committee

This has been a fantastic year and I ought to make note.

To start, I'll be joining the Amya team at Otakuthon as their invited guest, marking two big firsts for me: my first con as an invited guest, and my first trip outside the US! We'll have Amya books and (I expect) the usual awesome merchandise, and I'll have some prints, original art, and commissions. I can't even express how excited I am to be seeing Savannah again, and to be meeting Philip for the first time after working with him for seven years!

On a completely different note: I appear to have fully recovered from two, nearly three years of really awful health issues, which has allowed me the time and energy to draw more fun-art again - refilling a serious artistic void in my life. It took about 6 months of slowly introducing a drug into my system last winter, but thanks to these two pills a day I no longer feel like I'm wearing a cracking, fever-inducing suit of fire skin all over, and I'm no longer being taken out of commission two out of every four weeks. I've spent more time outside this summer than the last three years combined.

Anyway! I'd love to hear from anyone who's also attending Otakuthon. Looking forward to late August!
I am engaged!  ...And wedding planning is why I've failed to keep up on DA since...October, as life's been full of time-sucking meetings with caterers and hotels and florists.  So if I haven't replied to you on anything I'm not trying to be insanely rude, I'm just distracted.

Posting new work without replying to prior comments feels crappy, so I hope to do some mass replying to DA messages soon.

Thank you :iconemruki: for giving me a membership for Christmas!  I'm so sorry I didn't see it sooner!

Firstly...Anathema Volume 2 is out!   Hurray!

The book has been completed for over two months now, but we went through a long and very careful process to ensure that the books would print properly.  I'm really proud of how it turned out - Lulu's customer service was very helpful! Speaking of Lulu, they're offering 15% off all purchases from now through 11:59PM on September 26th.  Just enter this coupon code: OKTOBERFEST305

I also want to give a very belated thanks to all those I had the privilege of meeting at Otakon.  Why so late? Right after it ended I went on a vacation to see some buds, but returned home to a mountain buttload of work and forgot all internet things for a while because it takes me a stupid long time to write journals.

I know I'm going to mistakenly leave people out - it's inevitable - I am so sorry.  But to those I met with and talked to the most at the con:

  • :iconnadda: Savannah -  thank you for having me at your table!  Getting to hang out with you and Andrew(s) and promote Amya and meet readers...what an amazing time. I'm overjoyed to draw your words and to know that Amya reaches so many, and I'm looking forward to its unfolding in the years to come.
  • :iconssjcherry: Having to hop around airports  from sunrise through late afternoon wouldn't have been nearly as fun without you. :B  And thanks for running around Baltimore and the con with me on Saturday!
  • :iconand-babel-fell:  Maaan I am so glad we got to meet.  You're one of my oldest art buds and it was way fun talking to you IRL and seeing all the fans swarming your table.  XD  I hope the charity rocked that car shelter.
  • :iconblix-it:  Getting to sit next-door and talk so much was a super-treat, as was the visual barrage of your beautiful posters right next to us. *_* Thank you for all your encouragements, for your wisdom about Artist Alley-land, and of course for organizing the hotel and tables! You made the weekend possible! Also I am having daydeams about that hotel's breakfast bar, my god
  • :iconkaigetsudo:  :iconmargalot: Got to meet Kaigetsudo (artist and creator of the magnificent Jill Sandwich) and his wife Margalot, and now I have both volumes of Jill Sandwich as well as some kickass stickers.  *_*  Thanks for chattin' with me, guys, it was great meeting you and I hope my repeated visits didn't become a bother.  >__>
  • :iconemruki: We had only just e-met but I'm looking forward to keeping up with your work and comic. : D
  • Michele A. Reznik - For years I knew her as "tru-chan" on LJ, where she followed my art blog and always made insightful, helpful comments.  And then she popped by our table! It was truly a pleasure to meet you, Michele!
  • Feathers - Thank you again for your support of Amya. :D I'm glad you got to come visit us!

The other nice people I got to room with surely have art pages because DAMN THEY HAVE INCREDIBLE ART but I don't know their sites or DA usernames.  This is why snatching business cards is important; can anyone help me out here

Otakon and Apologies!

Tue Jul 5, 2011, 4:52 PM

Hellooo all,

To those who made comments that went totally unanswered all the way back to...May, I just wanna apologize for not replying back yet.  There aren't even that many, it's just a nutty summer with lots of stuff keeping me off DA.

One of those time-sucking items is preparation for Otakon!  Nadda and I made plans to finally meet up at a convention so we could promote Amya, and from all the cons along on her circuit Otakon looked best.  Right after Baltimore I'll be hanging with old friends I grew up with in New Jersey....and won't be doing any work. Heeey I'll have an actual vacation for the first time since maybe 2009 asdfghjk.  I'm especially excited to meet up with so many long-standing kickass e-buddies!

For the occasion I've drawn up a bunch of Amya cards, they'll be available at the con table itself.  I wasn't sure what else to bring for myself to sell, but blix-it gave me a ton of great advice and I intend to make good use of it (if I can finish everything on-time ahhhh).

SUMMARY: I'll be at Otakon, look for the giant Amya-flag!  And hey, let me know if any of y'all are going too, I'd love to see ya.

Cool Comic Communities

Thu Nov 18, 2010, 9:54 AM

I'm sorry for not being very active lately (is there anything you want to see me draw?), but heyyy I have a tumblr account now! And I've given it a horrible layout! It seems like a good place to post sketches, watercolor studies, and mostly art that isn't fancy enough for DA.

In my work hours I've been doing mostly comics, so here's a quick post about comic-related things.

Nadda started a DA group for Amya as another mirror for all the comic pages, and a place to collect all the art and fanart:

Amya is in print!

Sat Jun 12, 2010, 3:12 PM

Amya, one of the comics I draw for, is being printed!  If you would like to show your support it can be ordered here for $6.50 CAD (Which converts to $6.27 USD...I Think).  But they look so fancy and I'm really looking forward to getting my copy in. <3

I've just made a poll asking whether or not you're familiar with/have read any of the webcomics I get to work for, because I worry that I don't promote them enough here!  If you have a moment, could you please vote-in your answer?

Unrelated to anything art-related...I have a puppy!

His name is Perseus and he battles alongside his brother and SSJCherry's puppy, Hermes.  He is partially why I made that poll about Dogs vs. Cats last month.  Since I work at home and he's always here, it's a huge distraction to have something  that demands so much care, and I wondered if artists would as a whole, prefer cats.  But...he's been a really positive impact on my life.  I've stopped going to bed at 8 AM and sleeping until 4, and he gets me out of the house every day so I'm no longer the whitest person in North Florida.  And my cat doesn't hate him, so that's good too.

COMMISSION: Soap by Animeshen   Special Sketch COMMISSIONS by MediaViolence

I commissioned the above art recently!  ...Okay, actually only one portrait out of the sketch set - Jacques from Anathema.  You can find him smirking evilly right beneath the website logo.  For Animeshen, I commissioned one of my weird personified soap chicks which I think she did terrifyingly awesome justice.

Anyway, yaaay that was fun and I loved the results for both. : D

---

Hey guys, I'm working for another comic!  It's called Amya, and you can find it on Drunk Duck or on the homepage that writer/creator Savannah McIntyre (Nadda) has set up for it:

Amya on Drunkduck!
Amya on the Homepage!

Give it lots of love, friends!  What's really cool (aside from Nadda) is that I've unknowingly been drawing characters from this for the past year. I wonder which ones will be in the comic?

---

MISSIONCLOCK IPHONE APP:  I drew the little icon for it. : D

If you have an iPhone and you like to keep up on the Shuttle Missions, you can find it here!  I was delighted to hear that the creator (a really nice person) has justly earned love from the iPhone-using employees at NASA.

 Hello everyone!

For the past two years  (...since August 2007 I believe), Artificer-Urza has been commissioning comic pages for his story, Anathema.  At long last the whole first volume (totaling 168 pages!) is up for sale on Lulu.  A lot of hard work and fun went into the drawing (and later editing) of this self-published book - but it's definitely one of the coolest jobs I have.

Here's some copypasta of what Phillip has to say:

"Now you may ask "Why should I buy this if I can read the thing online for free?" An excellent question! I'll give you 3 reasons:
  1. Reading a book/graphic novel in your hands is a whole different experience from reading a webcomic online (that's my opinion anyways).
  2. There are 168 pages to the book; that comprises up to chapter 6 (which isn't finished online yet), 3 pages of extra sketches (which you will not see online) and 3 pages of character sketches with character biographies and author and artist impressions (which you will not see online).
  3. And finally, by purchasing the book you will be helping to ensure that this story continues.

"The Price of the book is 12.86$ U.S.

"Now, in order to lower costs to customers I am planning on collecting orders from friends and family, making a mass order from Lulu.com and then mailing out the copies myself. That way I'll get the benefits of mass ordering and you guys don't have to pay for shipping and handling. Now this is something I'm only offering to Canadian residents and some States friends; so if you live over seas, I apologize, but you'll have to order the book yourself. If you're interested in being part of this mass-order, please e-mail me at bourque_philip@hotmail.com with Anathema in the heading) so I can give you more details."

Book Preview:

***On the subject of Signed Copies*** If you're one of those eligible to order directly from Philip (the author and creator), you will have to ask him if you want your copy signed. : D  (note: I have no idea if he's offering this and I'm not trying to volunteer him!)

As for ordering a book with my autograph - a request that feels surreal to me - it's not impossible but TBH it's pretty pricey: you would have to order from Lulu, have it shipped to my address for proper signing (...and I would probably throw in a little sketch for your efforts), and paypal me the shipping so that I can send it out to you.  But doing this individually would be way expensive for you (list price + Lulu shipping + my shipping) because I don't have the time to organize a bulk ordering session with those delicious, nutritious bulk rates.

SUMMARY OF WOE: I have no immediate plans to take mass orders for signed copies. If I end up doing so, I would work out some kinda bonus to send to those who have already so generously supported Anathema V.1!

Thanks for all the order-love so far, everyone!

Hello, all!

One of the Anathema covers was gifted with a Daily Deviation today!  This makes DD#2, right behind Rosa and Rydia.  Thank you Hellobaby for suggesting it and Thiefoworld for the feature. :B

If you'd like to read the comic it's for, check it out at these three hot hot hot locations:

For nearly a year, :iconnadda: has been so kind as to subscribe me to DA; yet there are so many features I haven't tried!  The portfolio feature seems pretty cool, so I tried it out.  I now have a more simplified portfolio:

*art.soap-fox.com*

Not to be confused with the site of my friend :iconmercuryhat:, fox-soap.com, which she's had for years now!  As a joke, I bought soap-fox.com not expecting to do anything with it but heeey, why waste a $2 Godaddy domain?

Behold this mighty comic-drawing area.  ...Art table is :iconajrpg:'s >_>

---

If you read the webcomic I illustrate for, Anathema, :iconartificer-urza: and I are working out the formatting and extras for print!  My hope is to send for a test print before the end of this month.  I'll go more into that when all is done, but I'm really happy to be a part of his project.

I need to figure out this skin business, this journal is pretty boring

Now to leave town for four days~~

Life and Such!

Tue Feb 24, 2009, 10:57 PM
From here through March, I'll be internetless and stupid busy.

1) This Friday I'm slipping in and out of Megacon to try the portfolio review (fffff $25 bucks to get into the place for a lousy day and another $5+ to park, but the experience should be worth it.  Heeey Cetriya, are you gonna be in AA early Friday?

2) I wanted to draw something for the Darkstalkers thang, but that's looking less and less likely.  Ordinarily I'd slightly delay work to jump at such a cool chance (ooooh bad), but then...

3) ...I'm moving!  That's not even the half of it, but there's an important family-related matter that's going to take up March as well.  Thankfully, where I'm going is much cheaper to live than Orlando.  IT HURTS HERE

Anyyyyway this was more than anyone probably cared to know, but if I don't respond to comments for a month, it is not out of aloofness.

vidjya gamez

Wed Oct 1, 2008, 11:36 AM
I'm long overdue for a good pimping session!  If you have a moment, please check out two games I was hired to provide art for:  Spandex Force and Summer Session.

A little history for those interested:

Summer Session: Three whopping years ago I was hired by Winter Wolves (Tycoon Games) to provide art for this dating-sim-esque game in the making. It took a long time on my part because I was still a student, but he was very patient, and I ended up with valuable experience in drawing a wide variety of characters.

Even though my art's pretty different now, I'm thrilled to see it plugged into something like this!

Spandex Force: Last fall, Miro Karjalainen hired me for a superhero puzzle parody game in development. Because I was no longer slowy-McSlow-pants, the art was completed quickly and the game was released.  After playing it I found the dialog/scenarios utterly charming, and the puzzles addicting.  The old lady is my favorite character.

My humble apologies to both Miro and Winter for not plugging your games sooner, and thank you for including my art in such cool projects.

On Stuff...

Tue Sep 30, 2008, 12:00 PM
Y'ellooo~

For the past few months I haven't posted many commissioned works on Deviantart.  If you're one of those who haven't seen their picture here - don't worry, I'm not ashamed of it!  Mostly it's that I now prefer submitting art that represents my overall style, or focus of genres.

Also, my roomie drew a cool picture [edit - two cool pictures!]:

:thumb99434831: :thumb99481664:

Check him out - he's responsible for getting me into half of my favorite comics!

Anyone else anticipating news on the new FMA?  I'm one of those jerks who complains about the show's second half, because the comic doesn't take itself as seriously and the cooomic has cooler characters and the cooooooooooomic etc etc.

Yeeep.

Venture Brothers!

Sun Jun 1, 2008, 10:51 AM
The new season premieres at 11:30 tonight!  Don't forget to watch it, or you're not a true fan or something.

On art stuff, despite being absent here I've been drawing a lot of commerical work or secret-ish projects.  I'll post stuff again somedaaay >_>

I've also simplified my commission page significantly, starring this young lady.  The goal was to be short and specific.  Freelancing for a living has made me think too mechanically about pricing, to the point where I just wanted every angle to be covered by an overcomplicated price chart.  Is this easier to read?

Time for some yard work on this 91 degree afternoon.  Peace out!
