Updated: Adjusted the shape of Haumea and texture features to suit the real dimensions shown on Wikipedia. This update includes a ring texture and the .blend file as well for the best renders = ) the texture maps also include features caused by ring material and cracks on the outer lobes. i did my best to predict what Haumea could be like, and this is nearly as good as i can get without a flyby. enjoy~

Updated: improved colour and bump map. please note that this map is best used on a 3 axis sphere.
i will make a space engine addon available once it finally has that ability..

I love Haumea. got to wonder how such a fast rotation would affect how the surface and internal structure would work. affter working so much on the textures for my WIP solar systems, Pluto, and Charon i wanted to make some artists concept textures of how i imagine how Haumea might look. all we know about it right now is that it is egg shaped from rotating so fast, and it has a red area on its surface. I dont know if it is as red as i have it here though. but who knows.
If i had to pick, a visit to Haumea would definitely be on my list of worlds to see in my lifetime. too bad the focus is on Pluto and mars so much. I bet Haumea it looks completely different then how i have it depicted. i would love to be proven wrong by the real thing!

Use the maps all you like. just Credit the artist who made it. ^^

we do not have a lot of examples of rockey worlds with rings, and how that interacts with the surface. still a fun idea to play around with ^^ glad you like the idea.

I can try. though 3Ds may have limitations at this polygone count. so i may have to try another file format like Obj or something ells that accepts textures.
any other file format sugestions?

Celestia has issues doing rings around a triaxial sphere, it warps the rings into the same oval shape and it just doesn't work like that haha. that being said, i wont be an ass and i will tell you.

according to Wikipidia:

"The ring has a radius of about 2,287 km, a width of ~70 km and an opacity of 0.5"

Okay. It's just that there's a lot of blank space around the rings in your texture, and the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the image are not the same. How do I work with that?

oh. i guess you will have to find the center point and crop it to that, i just centered it by eye in blender, admittedly i didn't put much attention to that part of it lol.

Okay, but the length/width of the image still doesn't match the rings' diameter (that is, there's still a lot of extra space around the rings).

well i left a little gap because i have some very faint fading out of the rings in and outwards, its not purely transparent . if i cut it anymore you will end up with square edges where the ring texture was cut off if you looked hard enugh
