Meyer's Writing Sucks

For reasons beyond me, there are some people who think that the Twilight series are well written books. I don't think that there's anything wrong with enjoying badly written books, just as long as you realise that they are badly written books. Fans are using the excuse that it was her first book, and it was written just for fun or for herself. Yes, most books are, but is that an excuse to publish a book written entirely in purple prose with repetition, poor grammar, and thesaurus abuse? These books have clearly had little to no editing. They’re like a very early first draft that I know I’d be ashamed to let anyone see. Look at the w

Stephenie Meyer Sucks Part 2

I got Breaking Dawn on the day that it came out and was hoping that Meyer would somehow redeem the steadily deteriorating quality of the Twilight series. What a huge disappointment. I was even more disappointed when I found out how Meyer was responding to the criticism towards it. Then I discovered that she was writing Midnight Sun. I looked forward to that because, even though all of the books suck, they are a guilty pleasure and Twilight was the best of all of them. Then she stopped writing it! So, here I am, complaining about how these incidents are further proof of Meyer's suckage. Breaking Dawn turned many Twilighters anti. A lot of the

Stephenie Meyer Sucks Part 1

Ah, yes, Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight series. My opinion of her, from the way that she has presented herself to the public in interviews and such, is that she is a whiny, self absorbed woman with the mind of a 13 year old. She can't deal with criticism because it hurts her delicate little feelings, and believes that she is an amazing writer and that her story and characters are somehow superior to those seen in the works of people such as Jane Austen and William Shakespeare. Here's one statement that shows that she is both infantile and unable to handle criticism: "I will state, for the record, that my queries truly sucked, and I

The books and authors have nothing in common, except that they are well known and quite popular amongst many people. However even then it is stupid to compare the two. I first saw this comparison when they set up a section in our school library with a board that said “If you love Stephenie Meyer, you’ll love…” and had a bunch of retarded vampire books underneath (All retarded but with the exception of Vampirates. Twilight- Just Another Opinion

There are a million discussions, rants, and assorted squealing vs. scream-sessions on Isabella “Bella” Swan, Edward Cullen, and their relationship, so I’m not going to waste my time debating it – those who like it love it and those who don’t are disturbed and nothing will change either party’s minds. Instead I’d like to focus a little on a few topics that aren’t as well discussed (i.e. there may be on a few hundred rants as opposed to thousands).  Let’s begin by establishing that, yes, I have read Twilight and N

School is done forever. It has been over for a while, but I've been trying to relax. Two sets of exams after a crapload of study, homework, and tests can be stressful. My attempt hasn't been very successful so far. I'd like to put in my resume to all of the bookshops, but I've never done one before! I've no idea where to start, even though I'm Googling like hell! The plan is this: Around New Year's, I will get my results. Whichever uni accepts me, I will defer from for a year. So 2010 will be spent with a job and getting my driver's license. I'd also like to go back to Scotland and stay with my family for a while, but that depends on how muc

The experience of seeing New Moon. Twice.

I guess this entry's just me describing the experience of seeing New Moon. It got kinda long, so I'll post an entry on my thoughts of the actual movie later. Sadly, I did NOT yell "Jump, Bitch!" either times I saw New Moon. The midnight premier had people patrolling and I was near the aisle. They were very, very strict about kicking people out. I'd spent $18, and did not fancy waking up my dad to pick me up early because I'd been kicked out. There were also a couple of girls next to me who looked about twelve. I did not want to piss off their mother. The second time, being this morning, had a lot more children, and many weren't even in their

New Moon

I am going to the midnight premier of New Moon, yes, I am. Going with my Twilighter friend (she thinks that Jacob/Renesmee is okay... T_T). I don't think that it will be better than Twilight. The problem with New Moon is that Bella continuously attempts to commit suicide. Over a guy she has known for, like, a few weeks? A couple of months? I dunno, the Twilight timeline is very fuzzy. Anyway, it's less than a year. They have no basis for attraction other than Bella smells like freesia (WTF) and has an unreadable mind (Hint: There is nothing between her ears), and Edward is just so gosh darn attractive. And she's going to kill herself over hi

I just want to say that I have linked your Stephenie Meyer rant on my blog ( www.armaraph.blogspot.com ). I'm not expecting you to go there, not at all. I just wanted to give you the curtsey of letting you know I've linked you, and that I think you're truly fabulous :) Honest to God, your post and all the SMeyer hate just makes me smile.

All the best,

Here's a question, you talked about Stephenie Meyers so thoroughly. Can you do a review on my novel?

It's not finished yet but I want you to review what I have so far.

I read your wonderfully informative critique of Meyer's writing and wondered if you could writing something about how to make a strong female lead that's not generic.

Very good. VERY GOOD. Keep writing. Sarcasm is good.

Oh, and I gotta tell you, there was one comic series where Batman WAS a vampire. Catwoman ended up like, a 'werecat'.

I'm VERY impressed with you. Very impressed.
