Am I seriously going to be the first to adopt an egg? I feel like that's an achievement. :/

And below is another not-so-quick summary of events for those who don't like reading.

Past the opened door lies the treasure room, complete with an unopened chest. Andrea helps Birch open it, as the ghost type's semi-corporeal form makes it near impossible for the little Phantump to lift up the lid by himself.

Inside are the cobalt regalia the note mentioned. Andrea takes a scarf for her partner Blade while Birch takes a shawl for himself (I know I said poncho during the RP, but it's just a minor design change).

Also inside the chest is some sort of oval stone with a dull-metal brace around it. Birch inspects it, noticing a faint warmth and vibration from it as if it were alive, making him assume it's a new type of egg (those of you who talked to me during the streams probably already know what it is just by looking at it). Andrea helps pick it up, since Birch, again, cannot lift it by himself.

However, just as they were about to leave, they hear two unfamiliar voices coming from the entrance. Turns out a couple of bandits followed them into the temple to swipe the treasure from them. Birch hides the egg while Andrea goes back to engage the bandits.

The two bandits are a Drapion and an Alolan Raticate. They both attack Andrea on sight.

Andrea temporarily blinds them with Sunny Day before giving the Raticate a taste of her Flamethrower. The attack doesn't do much damage to him due to his Thick Fat, but is just painful enough to have him back off. The Drapion however, refocuses his vision to attack Andrea directly, knocking her wand out of her paws with Knock Off.

While Andrea is engaged with the Drapion, the Raticate sneaks around her to get to the treasure. Birch hides away from him as he checks the chest, finding the clothes but nothing else of value. The moment he turns around however, the Raticate spots Birch with the egg.

Birch, an in attempt to protect the egg from the greedy bandit, cries out while placing a Forest's Curse on the Raticate. The bandit shrugs it off, but Andrea hears Birch's cry for help and uses Psychic to pull away the Raticate and telekinetically throwing him into his Drapion partner (who couldn't have seen it coming due to his blind right eye).

The two bandits knock down a pillar on impact, causing a chain reaction and the ruins begin to collapse. The bandits flee, and Andrea and Birch manage to grab their stuff and leave right behind them. They manage to escape with some bruising, but overall they're still in one piece.

It's early morning outside now. As they recover from their tomb raiding, their other teammates find them (Penelope once again puts her nose to good use once they found Birch's note from earlier). They are both scolded by Penelope and Chase over their impulsive decision to explore the ruins without them, but Lin is just relieved to see the two of them mostly unharmed.

Penelope then inquires about the strange egg Andrea is carrying. She admits it's not anything she's ever seen before after inspecting it. Team Guang decides to send it back to Tabira for Nana to keep it safe until they come back from their expedition.

Birch thanks Andrea for the company. After this little adventure, protecting the egg from the bandits and seeing Lin Lin and Penelope caring about him despite his flaws allows Birch to finally put his fear of inadequacy to rest.

For the record, once a team has earned the Preserver rank with the Keepers, they can adopt an egg for free (It won't hatch until much, MUCH later, but everyone is likely going to guess what Pokemon it's going to be just by looking at it). Also, Birch gets a new look. And new confidence. Yay, character development!
