Lin Lin and Birch are together fixing up a house near the border of Karuka Jungle and Fever Flats. Once they've finished, Birch finds another note with the same handwriting as the note he found in Ywaru Canyon. The note details the location of a temple hidden deep in the jungle.

As they make their way there, they meet up with Reef, who is sitting on a rock pondering about the battle with Gilgamarsh and is generally feeling pretty worried about his friends. Lin notices him and decides to go up and talk to him about what's been on his mind. Reef says he's fine though, and introduces himself as the same Riolu who helped Penelope capture Madeline.

Lin Lin, in turn, introduces herself and Birch as Penny's friends, which Reef is happy to see. Speaking of Penny, she's just resting right now. It's been a pretty exhausting day for her, as you might imagine.

Anyways, Lin decides to invite the Riolu to come with them to the temple to leave an offering and maybe receive a blessing from the spirit who resides there. Reef takes the invitation and follows them into the jungle.

As they walk, Lin Lin explains that Garic (the Breloom) told her that the temple is home to one of the totem spirits that protected the land and ravaged any who opposed them in the past, when they still had mortal forms. The locals have been keeping their shrines in good condition ever since, as they were (and still are) feared and respected for their power.

They soon arrive at the temple, and it's a sight to behold. The entire temple interior appears to be lit up by electrified water, and it is quickly revealed that it is the totem spirit of conflict Tapu Koko who is the cause of it. Also, surprise Tapu Koko. He introduces himself as the kind of guy who talks like he's high on caffeine 24/7.

He apologizes for startling everyone with his very abrupt entrance, and he takes the time to get to know his new visitors since he hasn't really spoken to anyone like this in who-knows-how-long. He also tells them that he's here mostly because of the guild's activities and plans on defeating Gilgamarsh waking him up (he also can't remember Gilgamarsh's name very well), and he hates Marshy for mucking up his jungle and he'd also love to see that fight when it happens. 'Cause, you know, he's a spirit of conflict and all that. Fighting is kind of his favorite thing.

Speaking of fighting, he wants Reef and Lin to fight each other. 'Cause he's bored. Yeah, that's a shocker.

Reef is, naturally, a little objective to this since he doesn't want to hurt his new friend, but Lin tells him she actually like fighting too and is free to spar with him only if he wants to. Tapu Koko informs them that they won't be doing this for entertainment alone. There's prizes involved in the form of the offerings people have left at his altar or a taste of his power if that doesn't interest them. Whatever the outcome of the fight is, they all come out winners. Including Birch, who doesn't fight.

They decide to take up on Tapu Koko's offer, and they spar with each other. The fight was epic... and I won't be detailing it here. Go read the RP notes.

After the fight, which has left opposing members exhausted, Tapu Koko is satisfied. Reef gives Lin an apology berry, Lin Lin happily takes it and tells him there's no need to apologize, and the two of them quickly bond over it. (Social Link RANK UP!)

So they go over to the altar, which is filled to the brim for treasures and trophies. Lin takes a pair of arm-guards, Reef takes a small chest of jewels, and Birch doesn't want any treasure so he learns Spark instead. Awesome.

And then Tapu Koko says he'll watch over them fighting Gilgamarsh, wishes them luck and vanishes. Reef is a bit saddened to see such a nice guy go, and Lin reassures him that once their big fight with Marshy is over, they'll come visit the temple again to see him one more time.

Lin thanks Reef for coming with them today, and Reef thanks them in return for inviting him, as this was just the pick-me-up he needed. The two leave off with the promise that'll come visit the temple again and finish with a big ol' bear hug. The End.
