Really impressive!  The smoothness of the ink is highly impressive on its own, I'll say

Lol you fell into the inktober trap. But well done! Neat idea of using both black and white ink.

This!!!
This is seriously one of the most powerful renderings of that scene I've ever seen. As usual, the less detailed the drawing, the more vivid the imagination of the viewer can make it.

Your very kind. I'm really pleased that that was your immediate response. The feedback means a lot, so thanks for taking the time.

A powerful artwork deserves recognition, doesn't it?
Imho getting personal, focussed feedback from "peers" is one of the reasons people use DA (or at least why I joined).
So I'm glad you were pleased by my sincere comment :)

As for the Greco-Roman influence in your Tolkien-inspired works - it makes complete sense, not just for the Lady of Lorien, but in general; and the longer I think about it the more I am finding it rather a refreshing change in fact (while duly recognizing I'm guilty as charged, using a vaguely medieval "mise-en-scène" myself :) )

Your unique vision of Tolkien's characters as well as your work with light and contrasts is an inspiration to me.

Well, that just made my day.

Feedback really does make a difference. I haven't been as good about providing it recently as I should be, but I'm glad you reminded me of it's importance.

Don't get me wrong, the medieval style lends itself quite nicely to Tolkien's legendarium, indeed it's near impossible to completely sever that tie especially concerning hobbits and the race of men, but there lies the beauty of his work - it leaves us with a lot of room for creative licence and above all the imagination.

I'm flattered that my work would have provided any inspiration at all. Again, many thanks!

I'm sorry to say that, after the obvious TOLKIEN! SAM! EVIL DEMON SPIDER QUEEN! My last thought was "Somewhere on the Internet is someone else thinking of Shelob, Stephen King's IT and what a matched pair they'd make ... and they're probably shipping it as we speak.":o (Eek)

I'm normally quite tolerant of, indeed even friendly in my disposition towards, Spiders but I make an exception for Cosmic Abominations in Arachnid form! (By the way Snow-Monster, please allow me to compliment you on an elegantly classic image of an iconic confrontation).Nod

I know! I don't think Tolkien ever really told us how to kill those things either.
