Hearthfire

My body groans with weakness; it has been nearly three days since I have eaten. Thank the Fates, I was forced to flee during the hearthfire season. While the deep snowfall has made travel difficult and rendered food scarce, it has also ensured that my waterskins remain full. Had I been chased out of Hewden in the opendoor, I may not have been Fated to subsist so long. Nevertheless, I fear my journey is drawing near to its end. If I cannot locate food before next moonrise, the Fates will surely reclaim me. This ancient forest will serve as a better place than most for that. Authorship

People attempt to glorify authorship. So often you find writers proclaiming, "It feels so good to write again! It's been too long!" And in some circumstances, they're right. When you craft elaborate fictions entirely from your mind, it may be enjoyable (whether the thrill comes from creation or sharing), but that is not true writing. True authorship is written in red from a silver pen--a pen that is first driven into the author's chest to draw ink from their still-beating heart. When it is completed, the author lies still on the floor, all they are poured into the words they penned. True authorship is a curse; true authorship is Hell.

All around him people were screaming and running in every direction. To where, he had no earthly idea. If the world was ending, what use was running? Better to spend these final moments...doing what? Inevitably, when he did find something worth watching, he found about a hundred things all on at the same time. The whole system was irking enough that Phil decided to be done with it alltogether, but that decision fell apart quickly when he tried to actually go through with it. It's like coming home

Hi everyone, I've been almost silent and nearly completely absent on here for too long. Just so you know, this journal is going to come around to an upbeat perspective, but it's gonna dive deep and dark first. Okay? A long absence deserves a proper explanation. I never left you, dA. Never. The reason for this is summed up by a shitty couple of years taking their shots at me and my wife. A few years ago, we were homeless, living with friends. Then we moved in with Cet's family. My wife has a difficult relationship with her parents at times, so that wasn't great, but it saved us. I will always set out to believe in family. Throughout this g

Heir of Katterin - 01

Ailing, fading, my time approaches, Taking me from things that I hold dear. Illness takes me, claims, encroaches Upon my country, my reign, my time here. I leave behind my queen, and progeny To secure my throne and vassals, And I pray most earnestly my legacy Keeps them from needless battle. But I fear my son, my prince, my heir Shan't be deterred by my intentions. Thus, I must, while I linger here Rush to alliances to ease the tensions To lessen the chance of his campaigns Embarking to expand our borders, And thus ensure that his coming reign Sees our dear country left in order. For to pass is of itself dismal-- Though that

Coming back

Coming back

Been quite a while since I've been here, and while I have done a little writing in that time, it hasn't been the type I'd usually share here (it's mostly song lyrics, which generally don't ever end up finished/polished enough for me to publish anywhere). However, I recently realized that next year it will be 2015. Why is that significant? I'll explain. Two of the best things I did for my writing were 100 Theme Challenges. I did my first one in 2007, focusing primarily on poetry. My second HTC was in 2011, and I focused on stretching my styles and abilities, straying away from anything at all that I was used to in favor of new methods/topics/

100 Theme Challenge - Posting update

I'm finally getting back around to uploading the rest of the pieces I did for my 100 Theme Challenge for 2011. Since I probably won't be posting much to my journal, I figured I'd bring this post back up to the top where it can be used as a directory. If you see anything that's not yet posted that you want to see sooner, let me know. Otherwise I'll go in sort-of numerical order occasionally subverted by random whims. 1. Blink - "Surely" 2. Wedding - "...do us part" 3. Fantasy - "Like Her, the Dream Is Gone" 4. Lock and Key - "Keys" 5. Heart - "Sweetheart" 6. Poison - "Emory in Viridian" 7. Fairy - "So Cute, So Innocent, So Hungry"

Cool, but I'm barely even here anymore. I was supposed to get active this summer and post a bunch of stuff from last year, but never really did. I do try and pop in every few days though.
