Breeding Slots:

Every Snjorrir comes with a default 5 breeding slots. This means that you do not need to reach any achievements or do anything special in order to use these slots - they're yours to do with as you please~
Public breeding to other Snjorrirs is encouraged - we even offer you a compensation of sorts for offering up one of your valuable slots to other members of the community <3 For further info, please read up on the Achievements and Rewards section.

On Inbreeding:

Inbreeding within the Snjorrir breed, although not encouraged. Inbreeding can result in birth defects found in the foal. All inbred foals will be RNG rolled for various defects, ranging from blindness to personality oddities.

Immediate inbreeding (sire and dam being siblings) = Two irregularities minimum
Grand-inbreeding (grandsire and grandam being related)= One irregularity minimum
Distant inbreeding (inbreeding anywhere else in the linage)= Random roll for irregularities. So may get a defect or not.

On Crossbreeding:

Crossbreeding outside of the Snjorrir breed is strictly prohibited, with the exception of ancestoral blood. This means your Snjorrir can be bred to a Snjorstur Draught without fear of repercussions. The resulting foal can also be considered a pure Snjorrir so long as it carries all the necessary physical traits. Snjorrir-Snjorstur crosses also have the bonus of being much calmer and better mannered than those of the pure warhorse variety.

Noting the Group:

It IS necessary to note the group when you wish to breed your Snjorrir. When noting, please make sure the title of the note expressly states that you are noting about a breeding. Inside your note, you must then include:
:bulletblack: Be sure the horse is 5 years of age to breed
:bulletblack: The sire (including a link to his ref and the breeding slot with your name listed)
:bulletblack: The dam (including a link to her ref and the breeding slot with your name listed)
:bulletblack: The coat colour and genotypes of both parents.

Go here for more information about submitting foal designs after a breeding.

Can Snjorrirs have twins?

Yes - that's rolled when you have them bred, it's fairly uncommon? - double breeding (breeding parents twice, using up 2 slots) is like the equivalent of twins

This is probably a default setting for all horses of any breed, made up or IRL, but how old do our horses need to be to breed?

Question; how do the secondary genes from a Skyfall Snjorrir work? Are they considered a secondary set of genes, leading to more possibilities for the foal, or are they ignored unless both parents have Skyfall markings..?

I believe they're all counted! It just depends on if it's got enough weight to keep through the breeding (heterozygous/homozygus) - nothing isn't counted, and if you know genes then you can probably work it to your advantage >>

I THINK that makes sense... In any case, I'll be sure I don't leave anything out when I send in a breeding note. Thanks! :)

Hey! :D I love the idea of the note, do you think maybe we can have a journal of people like Mish and Myself who are willing to mash some genes together for people should they need the help? For those people who haven't exactly got it down yet. :giggle:

Are mutations passed realistically or do they use an unlogical system? :) (as in both parents must be carrier of the mutation or it won't pass?)

works just like Nordanners c:

so if you have a stripot breeding, here are the options:

StrStr + StrStr = StrStr

StrStr + nStr = StrStr

nStr + nStr = nStr

nStr + regular horse = no stripot markings

hope this helps!

oooo okay! I suddenly got worried since I sorta think you're one of the admins (you replied to me, so I assume you are xD) and then I got like .. ow wait .. this is probably the genetic admin (since you replied), but that was the founder .. and that didn't make a lot of sense xD

Thanks for replies trough! It was really nice you did! :D

It's realistic ^^ Het horses have a chance of passing genes along too - it's a 50% chance.
