I would love a Diamond and Pearl (Actually more Platinum) remake this generation, but with the way Sun and Moon have turned out, I'm not sure if it's possible to remake the games while still living up to Sun and Moon even remotely.

I'm not even talking about new Pokemon forms or stuff like that, but for example: Alola is fully explorable. Every inch on the map is explorable. No gaps technically. Sinnoh, on the other hand, is pretty small and is definitely not full like Alola. The whole region is not really accessible. Now I would not mind if they added a lot  to the region and expanded areas and made it a little less of remake though, I just doubt it would happen.

Honestly, I can really only see a third version or sequels happening with this generation.

I wouldn't mind of a Sinnoh remake. (SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!)
I would also love to have a new region, again.

Pokémon is my unique favourite game. So voilà. *^^*

They could maybe make Sinnoh larger and add islands to it or something. I mean they've done crazier things before that worked out tremendously like trials and Mega Evolution.

I wouldn't be too surprised if they did that honestly.

It actually sounds plausible the more you think about. I think they could even change the story to add in the expansion and maybe even move some Gyms around.

I actually think that Platinum is still a great game to this day and isn't necessarily in need of a remake. It's story was alright, but the best part for me was exploring the region. It felt so big and different, and felt like an extension of what was started with Hoenn when they started adding different kinds of areas like the volcanic areas. Sinnoh had it's massive mountain areas, interesting cities, what felt like a breathtaking snow area at the time and great music to go along with all of it.

If they remade it in the new style of Sun and Moon I think it'd lose that charm, in the same way that New Super Mario Bros. feels completely different to the older ones. I'm sure they'll remake it at some point, but I'm not going to be actively calling for it.

That is pretty true. Sinnoh is my favorite region (not counting Alola though not sure which I'll like more), and it doesn't really seem like it needs a remake right now.

I would love to see Sinnoh remakes - I never got fully invested in Gen 4 like I would have wanted to. Even going back to play now days, it just doesn't grip me. I LOVE HG/SS, but the Sinnoh region never captured my attention. I don't think that revamping the region map would be too terrible difficult - they already have the groundwork to base it off of. I would consider the tile-based map of Gen 4 to be a guide, and being able to utilize the assets from S/M shouldn't be too tricky. It's just breathing that extra life in between the lines.

Honestly, I'm wondering if we'll revisit Kanto at some point soon. I know the game is celebrating its 20th anniversary, but Kanto is heavily emphasized throughout the game: you come from Kanto, people bask in wonderment of Kantonian Forms of Pokemon, and another main character even talks about going to Kanto. Not to mention both Red and Blue are NPCs. I think it'd be neat to have a new game based off of the Kanto region; not a remake like FR/LG, but a new adventure entirely.

That Kanto game is actually pretty interesting. Before Sun and Moon, I kept thinking that another Red and Blue (or Yellow or Green) remake would happen because of the 20th anniversary, and Kanto is now, even with the remakes, the region that is farthest back in the consoles, on GBA (not counting the Gen 2 Remakes with you revisiting Kanto). Now that Blue and Red have been established as NPCs, it wouldn't make sense to go back and remake the games (not now at least) with the player as Red (Or Green) and the rival as Blue. However, having a brand new adventure there actually seems like an idea that could work because they wouldn't be restricted to using Red, Blue, and the original story elements.
