Could this foreshadow something? by Snivy101 Could this foreshadow something? by Snivy101
Let me destroy your hopes first by telling you that this is fake. Though it doesn't take a genius to establish that, as I stupidly used the European date system yet forgot to use the PEGI rating system. My dreams will stay dreams...

So fake leak by me, but it does foreshadow some stuff I'm working on. Some Mario Maker stuff such as SMB3 and SMB style sprites of those good ol Chargin Chucks. Also fuzzies, Skull boxes, and possibly the Koopalings for SMB.

To be honest, I think enemy-wise, any enemy (with the exception of some more oddly functioning enemies like Grrrols) that has a 3D model in NSMBU should be in Super Mario Maker. I understand that they didn't want to make brand new HD sprites for some enemies, but it's no excuse for those that already have them in the Wii U Mario game. Take Fuzzies for example. They already have 3D models from NSMBU. They work in SMW and have sprites. All that would need to be done is make SMB and SMB3 versions of them and they'd be set. How they would work in the enviornment? Simple. If they're not on a track, have them sit in place like a spinning saw! When it comes to the Chargin Chucks, I know it'd be harder, but assuming the 3D World models still exist somewhere at Nintendo, they could do it just the same way, making sprites from the model for the NSMBU theme.

If a Fuzzy is not in track line, a Fuzzy will walk up walls, similar to Spike Top, but faster.

Also, there's no free DLC, it's a free update patch that contains lot of features and stuff (seen in my journal).

Well no free updates have actually been confirmed. The only "DLC"/new content confirmed are two new Mystery Mushroom Suits for Japan, and it's unknown if they'll end up coming to the US.

It would be dumb for Nintendo not to have DLC like this for this game. I'd also like to see them add in some of the dinosaur enemies from SMW like Rex, Dino-rhino, and Reznor in particular. SMM needs more bosses anyway. A koopaling DLC pack would rock, too.
And one thing I think they dropped the ball on is making the Amiibo characters not bound to the mystery mushroom. I'd much rather not have to worry about loosing the look of one of the Amiibo characters while playing in a level designed for them.

DLC was made for costumes as a Japan-only feature. Japan was one of richest countries. I live in Japan.

I've seen a few holes in your DLC choices. Not to say, I wouldn't love them, but they'd have to do a lot of work.
First with the Rex, Dino-Rhino, and Reznors. The big problem comes in with the NSMBU style. They'd have to make brand new 3D Models for them and then make sprites out of those models for the style, something that I'd imagine they wouldn't do just because it'd be too much work for DLC. HOWEVER, there's a way they could make it work. Exclusive Theme Object/Enemy/Power-Ups. What I mean is that some elements can really only work in one-three themes rather than all 4, but in order to even everything out they could make them into exclusive elements. So say you're in SMW style, you throw down a Reznor. The only way you would then be able to switch to another Game theme would be to remove it. When you try to switch to say the original SMB theme, it'd say "Exclusive object(s) placed, remove them to switch themes," or "Exclusive object(s) placed, they will be removed if you switch themes. Is this okay?" or something along either of those lines.
When it comes to the Koopalings. I was thinking why not just tweak their sprites in SMW and make new ones for SMB and it works! Well then I thought about something. Their gameplay styles in NSMBU. It would be easy if they functioned like their NSMBW versions, but they don't. Rather than using their wands, they use some gimmick like Roy's Bullet Bill launcher and Morton's Hammer. Especially Wendy's ice skates... it just wouldn't fit into the game well or be an easy fix (that I know of). The only way would again be the exclusive elements idea.

I think given how much they are charging for the game it wouldn't be unreasonable to create a handful of new 3D models for a DLC pack.
They already have base models they can port for Reznor from NSMB2. So they'd only need to make Rex, Dino-rhino, & Mini-rhino.
As for the Koopalings, they could base them on the models and behavior from NSMBWii.
Regardless of where they get new models from, original or ported, there will be a need for reprogramming as they have to fit the code structure of SMM which may or may not share any number of necessary functions with earlier games.

I'd rather not introduce exclusive elements that don't have analogous counterparts in the other themes.
That would just add a possible extra step in switching themes that could potentially annoy some users.
It would be better to keep things as user friendly as they have thus far, I think.
Plus, the engine already has interchangeable exclusive objects like the Mystery Mushroom / Super Leaf / Cape Feather / Propeller Mushroom and Kuribo's Shoe / Yoshi.

Realistically, it's not a huge amount of work.
With a small team working on it and Nintendo's resources they could probably iron out a DLC pack that includes Rex, Dino-Rhino, Mini-Rhino, Reznor, and all 7 Koopalings in three to four weeks tops plus whatever play testing, review, and approval time is needed.

Another easy idea for a DLC pack is an SMB2j theme. It's basically just a modified SMB1 skin with a few new objects.
You'd need the poison mushroom, the super spring boards, the wind generator, and the aggressive piranha plants.

I had originally thought about using the base models for Reznor, but when you look at its model, it's still clearly meant for the 3DS game. They'd have to both refine the polygons of it and retexture it with HD textures. Also, they'd have to make a base animation with 60 FPS. The Koopalings however would be somewhat easier if they decided to go down that route. They would have the 3D models already, so they would only need to scrap the items from them model that each has and then animated them from there.

I suppose counterparts to some enemies good work. But I couldn't think of something that would work with Chargin Chucks. Assuming they'd go in SMW and either SMB or SMB3, what would go in the other SMB(3) and NSMBU?

While SMB2 would be an easy theme, I don't think it would be good enough to be a whole different GAME THEME. I mean yes it is a whole different game, but I feel like it could be as simple as a few new level themes and items/enemies.

The NSMBU style enemies are pre-renders on SMM.

I was aware of this, but they are of course created using said models. So Chargin chucks could in theory be animated and rendered to be put in the game.

It would make perfect sense for Boom-Boom to be in the game. I wish someone would make an alternate version of Super Mario Marker or something. There better be some DLC!

So they give us a Mahjong tile, and they won't give us Pokeys, Chargin Chucks, etc. And I'm sure we won't see Daisy, Wart, or Birdo as character suits and yet..... A MAHJONG TILE?
