I was talking with a friend and they got me thinking. I dont know but I had to make an example for it. We were talking about blending stumps and some overdo it and relying on them. The top one was me relying on my blending stump to do all the work, as you can see it doesnt have those sharper contrasts of the other two and instead just making it look diluted. The bottom one was me using only a HB pencil I didnt even allow myself to use an eraser, even with only allowing myself this one thing it looks better than the sphere at the top. the one on the right was using my tools effectively not letting the blending stump to ruin the piece, it took time and control and was all in all more difficult but it looks smoother while keeping those nice contrasts. Its like when artists expect brushes to do the work for them on digital pieces, it wont work unless you understand how to do what youre doing without them and knowing how to use that brush effectively.
I see technique... (This is BluYu from Discord!)
Hey this is great! Im impressed you took the conversation and used it in your drawing. The one with the control definitely looks the best.
