T
his is a one-off custom designed and hand made violin shaped coffee table. I didn’t want the neck of the violin to stick out or it would be easily knocked over so I designed the neck to flow over the edge. The table is made of sapele wood which has a beautiful coppery glean when it catches the light. The top has wood-burned f-curls and strings and has a maple veneer inlay for the bridge.

Special thanks to :iconaldwarke: aldwarke for his fantastic support and help on joining wood to make it wider and wood finishes which made this table turn out much better than it would have otherwise.

I really, really appreciate it. It was for a family of musicians so that's what inspired it. :)

this is just beautiful!! you should open your own shop and studio and do these things and sell them under your brand name

Wow! Thanks so very much. You've really made my week!

I don't know if I'd open an actual shop but I do hope to get to the stage of selling stuff on my online shop and at some craft fairs eventually. I need to build up my confidence and my stock first but encouraging people like you inspire me and make it seem a less daunting challenge.

my advice is to sell online just to gather some money to open your shop. you need a hard core place to rock out. online sales are just temporary. like mirages. you can't touch them or look at them. that's why people prefer shopping inside shops than shopping online. ya dig?

That's a very interesting and excellent point. You're right I think especially so with hand made crafts because just as you've said people like to touch them and ask how they're made. Also I find that they never look as good in the photos as they do in reality. You can't get the whole effect or how the light reflects on them.

I'll definitely consider it. Thanks so very much for the advice. :glo
