I've been wanting to get into this particular state hospital for a long time, but I knew the risks of infiltrating were high, and it is a very long trip for an uncertain exploration. So I took a chance and called about getting access. They didn't say "no", right off the bat. In fact, they seemed interested to have a photographer come and take pictures of the complex. So I figured the powers that be would deny my request, or maybe file it away and forget about it forever. Today around 1:30 my phone rang. It was the hospital. I answered, thinking I would get a big fat NO, but instead, the lady on the other end asked when I could come... I GOT IN! I am now the happiest girl in the world.
I also went up to AMHI today for the first time. Unfortunately it was dark and security hovered around us like moths to a candle, but we did manage to do a little scouting. With my new found confidence of getting into places legally, I may call them tomorrow to see about getting in. Hope so!

deviantART is kind of annoying. I don't get the comments I'm looking for and all the decent people I was watching stopped posting, and pretty much everybody worthwhile is over at Flickr, where I am. If you're there too, come on and connect with me!

Got Kirkbrides?
I do, er... I will, in like 2 more days. Another explorer and I are making the trek up north to check out an old asylum on Friday. We've explored together once before, and by far it was my favorite exploration, so this trip should be nothing short of epic.
Also lately I've learned that several of my favorite things, specifically food related things, are Maine state specific. Whoopie pies, italian sandwiches, american chop suey, red hot dogs, and bean suppers all get left behind when I move to Buffalo. Very sad. But hey, I'll give those up for the world's best Buffalo wings...
A Whole Mess Of Junk
I'm in one of those moods where I'm really tired but can't sleep, and for whatever reason I'm full of energy and there is some opera song playing on my iTunes... Ahem, so, lets see, I've recently decided that I'm sick of living on cereal and toast so I forced myself to learn to cook, and to everyone's surprise, I'm pretty good at it. Must be all those countless hours logged watching Rachel Ray. Oh, btw, Rach had throat surgery to get rid of her signature voice, and I don't like it.
I love the new UE'rs from Maine. Mostly I love having my ass kissed and asked for stuff like recommendations for full member status. These guys are pretty good fo
The REAL Urban Explorers
As many of you know, my life semi-revolves around the hobby of exploring and photographing abandoned structures. This hobby is commonly known as "urban exploration." Recently, there has been a movement by uninformed angry citizens, cops, politicians, and rival groups fighting for room in these locations, to have urban exploration, and our main website, shut down. Now, you can't really "shut down" a hobby, but the movement is pushing for explorers, and anyone caught in an abandoned building, to be persecuted to the highest extend of the law. These malicious groups are spreading lies about us, telling people we bring riff-raff, vandalism, drugs
