Callisto Human Transfer Vehicle (C-HTV)

Side Schematic Orthogonal View

The C-HTV is a Manned Spacecraft built by commercial space industries and aide from government space agencies such as NASA and the ESA for the first human mission to the Outer Solar System. Assembled in the Earth-L1 staging point, the C-HTV departed on December 11th, 2041 (5 years after the first human mission to Mars) for Jupiter, with a crew of 5. After the 2 year journey across deep space, the crew finally entered orbit around Jupiter's outer-most Galilean moon, Callisto. Two other unmanned vehicles had been sent ahead of them several years prior; the Callisto Primary Science Mission Vehicle (C-PSMV) and the Propellant Resupply Vehicle (PRV). The C-PSMV carried 4 robotic rovers, each one specifically designed for each of the 4 Galilean Moons; Io, Ganymede, Europa, and Callisto. It also carried the astronaut's base, habitat modules, manned exploration rovers, and supplies to sustain them during their 120-day stay on Callisto (these resources would later become the seed for a larger, more permanent research outpost). Finally, it carried a launch vehicle that used LOX/LH2 engines that could be fueled by processing Callisto's surface ice to dock with the C-HTV to return to Earth. The PRV, on the other hand, simply carried additional LH2 propellant to refuel the C-HTV after entering Callisto orbit to allow it to return to Earth-L1.
