The Sony Marvel universe in a nutshell

It’s sad how a video game company like Insomniac understands Spider-Man’s rogues gallery more than a film studio that has held the film rights since the 90s. Ok the Spiderverse movies get a free pass, because they‘re actually good and do something different.

Live action on the other hand, swing and a miss. Sony made this cinematic universe called Sony’s Spider-Man universe, but he’s not even in it. It’s just his villains getting their own movies, oh and Madame Web. You think it would be about how they got into villainy, but they couldn’t even get that right. They turn them into anti-heroes. I know Venom is an anti-hero in the comics, but he started out as a villain first.

I watched the walkthrough of Spider-man 2 and by far, the Kraven we got in that game is a million times better than movie Kraven. Movie Kraven was some wimp got bitten by a lion and got hunting powers. That’s just lame, and sadly that’s the theme. Morbius got bitten by vampires and got turned into a vampire And that El Muerto movie has our main character  bitten by Spider-man and he uses a mask to get this powers.

In the words of Raphael, Where do they come up with stuff.

I want the Spider-man villains being villains in their own movies. And don’t give me that. “Oh come on! No one wants to see a movie about villains doing bad things.”

Need I remind you of Joker. That film felt like a real villain origin story, and guess what it had a young Bruce Wayne in it, establishing that Batman exists in this movie.

Still not convinced? We also have The Godfather trilogy, a trio of movies which follows a crime family.

American psycho- which follows a business man in the 80s killing people.

Most of Martin Scorsese’s films about gangsters.

We even have tv shows like this, like Sopranos, Breaking Bad and even the upcoming Penguin series. When Warner Bros discovery understands the assignment of Villain focused stories, you know you fucke up Sony.

Bottom line, count me out of the Sony Marvel universe. I’m saving my money for Deadpool 3 and maybe Joker 2.
