National Brain Day

The assignment : Make an 8.5" x 11" event poster using no more than 5 colors (white not included). All assets must be created by you, and it must only use Illustrator.

My event was National Brain Day, a day in which American citizens are encouraged, via print, to wake up and think about the newly elected president (hence the date).

The first part of our assignment started with designing a logo for 'our' company. The star symbol in the man's forehead and up in the corners is actually a 'd' and a 'T' (for doubleTHINK). Yea, star logos, they've been done, but i just thought it fit, and that's all that really matters. My teacher seemed to dig it, so, hopefully I get a good grade.

Oddly, this is the first all vector piece I've ever done. It's for our Designing Computer Graphics class which is more or less an intro to Photoshop and Illustrator.

Just in case you're curious, the font is Berthold Akzidenz Grotesk. Some extended and condensed versions.

this is really great. been looking through your gallery , and i am seriously so impressed by everything you've been doing. can't wait to see more.

this is particularly cool. how do you make your designs? is it all rendered on computers or do you also have to draw some times? im not so familiar with it all i guess. but this is fucking good man, keep it up

This design was made with Adobe Illustrator. I made this all on the computer. I found a guy's face to try to imitate, and went to it in Illustrator, focusing on "pen-tooling" the shadows and stuff of the dude.

I'm sure you've heard of Photoshop... here's a nice little summary of the difference between it and and Illustrator > [link]

I usually do all of the line work in Illustrator, then take that into Photoshop to do all the cool color and texture stuff.

Thanks for the compliments and all the :+fav:'s

Here's one more little thing explaining the difference too > [link]

i really appreciate it.

I have 11 more months of school, so I should keep this stuff coming on a more consistent basis.
