I haven't been on DeviantART in.... 4 years? It's been a while! But I've found myself here again, adding friends. I have to say, I appreciate that DeviantART hasn't deviated in style, function, or consistency in what it provides. It hasn't become a mass of ads, or a cesspool of pointlessness. It seems to have matured. So, yay!
I've grown a lot as an artist and as a person, but I still have a long way to go. I've slacked off in lots of places- namely, making art just for me! NEVER underestimate how important it is to create things that you love. If that means you want to paint unicorns over and over, go for it! I've lost that, a bit. Don't do that!
Perhaps it's because I've been doing art constantly for others (especially because it's my job- for over 4 years now), but it's time to get back on track. Tight timelines really mean nothing. If you want to do something bad enough, you will find a way to make time.
If your tastes have changed, and you find your work washing away into boredom or it's not living up to expectations, change course. I have to do this myself, so I can't advise past that point. I do know you should find something simple that you enjoy about art and explore it. For example, I have been growing intensely interested in color and light, more than anything. I still love animals and the wild- that may never change. So... go!
Look for more from me.
