Airfix catalogue 1969 by Small-Brown-Dog Airfix catalogue 1969 by Small-Brown-Dog
Owing to :iconyereverluvinuncleber: I seem to have got, or rediscovered, that old Airfix bug.
Anyway, digging about in the loft I came across this old catalogue.

Saw an interesting vehicle (A VTOL aircraft) in the Man In The High Castle and thought of you. Interesting show, and some of the aircraft look like they were designed or inspired by you. :)

Actually I can't remember if they had plating on plastic back in the 60's like they have had  in the last few decades.

It's like trying to remember when pull rings on beer and soda cans came and went.  I seem to remember it on hub caps and other parts of the 60's Revel hot rods.

Now you mention it Hotwheels had plastic chrome parts  and ring pulls were around in 68 or 69  because I remember a cola advert that made use of the song Gimee that thing only they sang gimee that ring ... Christ I'm getting old!

There used to be a joke that only worked in the days of rotary telephones, you have to do all the sounds and the voices yourself...

Brring, brring, brring, brring, brring, brring, click.

"Hello?"

"Oh Hello..., is that four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four?

"Yes it is, how can I help you?"

"Could you call the fire brigade please? I've got my finger stuck in this dial...".

:D

There is a whole generation out there reading that and going "huh?".

But then I am old enough to remember when there wasn't area codes and the first two digits of the number were letters and used a place mnemonic such as MAdison 5, FLorida 3, or in the Elizabeth Taylor movie, "BUtterfield 8.

I still bring that joke out for an air from time to time when the crowd is old enough to understand. I took my children to an telephony museum just so that I could demonstrate and explain then use that joke.

One and nine, The Good Old Days, When you could buy a model kit with your pocket money, buy glue and some paint and still have change for a bar of choc or bottle of pop, these days you need to take out a loan to buy the latest offering.
Great imag BTY, love the stain mark effect.

Cheers; I don't have as much time as I'd like to investigate people's galleries.

Reminds me a lot of the old Heller and Hasegawa catalogues that were lying around in my childhood. Must be a parallel universe one though. 😉 Your artistry is awesome!
