Kelryn staggered away from the body, ice gripping her as she drew in a deep breath. She couldn't believe that she'd been so careless. After everything her Master had taught her she'd let her confidence get the better of her and now she'd bungled the whole job! She looked over her shoulder at the man lying dead in the snow. Oh well, she'd at least killed the target, now she just had to get out of here before...oh.
She realized then that the spreading cold gripping her body wasn't from the snow, though it certainly did nothing to help. No, she'd been stabbed. Deeply. She pulled her glove from her hand and touched her side, sure enough her target's blade had gone straight in through her leathers and into her stomach. She sank to her knees, staring at her bloodstained hand as she pressed her other hand against the wound in an attempt to stem the flow of blood. She'd lost her medicinals in the tussle with her target, but she wasn't sure that it would have helped.
Her body began to tremble as her blood seeped out through her fingers and down her leg. She'd been trained to kill, she'd never expected to be killed on her first assignment. Her Master would have scolded her had she been here. The chilled wind blew at Kelryn's cheeks as she sank down on her haunches, unable to keep herself upright as the snow at her knees began to turn crimson. She was losing too much blood, she was probably bleeding internally, there was no help to be had.
She sank back into the snow, collapsing under the increasing weight of her body as her strength buckled and her blood slicked fingers released the pressure on her wound. She could feel the blood flowing freely now out on to the snow, it was a strange sensation to feel her own life spilling out of her and knowing what it signalled. She looked up at the blue sky, shuttered by the drifting white of the clouds as they passed overhead. She wondered if it would snow again before anyone came this way. Would her body ever be found? Would her victim's?
That made her smile at least as the light left her eyes. The thought that no one would know what had happened to her target. They simply vanished. That was the mark of a true assassin she thought as her mind faded away into blackness, no one ever knowing that you had struck until it was too late.
Things don't quite go as intended for a newly minted assassin.

Wow this is really great, I love the emotions in it even with it being so short, and the ending is really really cool. I like the happiness near the end.

Thanks, it was a bit of a challenge to give the proper weight to the scene but I enjoyed it doing it.

This was awesome! You took the story the painting was telling and wrote it down. (Perfectly if I may add) Simple, but amazing!

Glad you enjoyed it.

Was something of a challenge honestly since so very little is going on in the scene.
