I'm back! (and trying my hardest to avoid 'the contagion' which has struck my family - hello again vomiting and diarrhoea, how I missed your presence after our last meeting). I know how people in the times of the great plague felt now, seeing everyone around them struck by the illness and hoping it doesn't get them next :fear:

Anyway, enough about that.  This one may be a bit dark on various screens.  Another sketch for 'Lockturn', though it might be considered more of a history piece perhaps.  From the same 'chapter' as 'In The White Room' - because The Black-eyed Boy and The Feral Witch Girl know one another pretty well despite their paths diverging, and converging again. I would almost use the term 'friends' but that's not right at all, wild animals don't have friends, they just have a hierarchy where each knows its place.
She peered out at him now, her pale face pressed between the bars as far as would allow, lips peeling back over sharp teeth.
A bark, low, animal like.
She did not speak, but he had seen the foxes coming to her, and the way they sat and stared like courtiers before a ruler.  They brought her small dead things when all was dark.  Feeding her so she did not starve on the scraps of man.
There is a lot more but I won't be posting it just yet, the chapter itself is very long as it covers the span of a few years and will have to have a mature tag, warning the less hardened of heart out there not to peek at it.
If I do upload, it will be separate from the main 'Lockturn' chapters, as my attempts at 'weaving in elements of the past with current events' has been a glorious failure thus far. Ho hum, thus is life, better to fail monumentally than to never try right?

Noooo stay away contagion! I think I caught it, my throat feels sore and my eyes burn >.<;

Oooo Lockturn stuff :D Looking forward to getting started on this story!

I actually caught it a little after posting this picture. It was vomiting and diarrhoea and was extremely awful, I took three days off work to recover.

Hopefully it'll be worth it, I'm concerned now that I've built this up to be something better than it is...

Oh goodness....is that irony? lol

I'm sure it will be. I'm happy to offer critique along the way. Part 1 is out, right?

Seems like it!

Yep indeed, but it's a history chapter that's up, not the main collab

This looks wonderful. The dark vibes behind this is amazing.
The girl kinda creeps me out like this. Seems like there are a lot of inner demons going on here xD
Nice work <3

Welcome bacccccccccccckkkk!!! You've been missed!!! Sorry for the delay getting back to you and commenting on this creepily wonderful artwork!
I hope you're avoiding the plague? *Gives you a leper bell just in case*
I love the way you describe the foxes gathering around her like courtiers.
I bet the smell is something else...
The only time Cain's eyes have ever shed water.
It's a biological reaction, nothing he can do about that.
Also, I think we've found a new contender to take on 'The mask' in a staring contest!
Seriously though, I love the fact that even though this piece is so dark, you can still make out the outlines of Jin vs. the foxes- and the dark and sinister halo enhances the unsettling 'staring' effect.
Sooo excited to finally 'meet' Jin!!!!
(And I still want to read the chapter whether you share it or not!)

 thank you thank you.
Actually, funny thing (or not so funny), the day just before I was set to go back to work, I caught the contagion, am now on sick leave...I just don't understand why the wretched thing didn't show up in the 4 days I had BEFORE work. Oh gosh it was awful, really really awful.  But I'm lucky, it didn't strike me down on the plane, like it did with my mum and sister...
Thanks, I imagine the foxes just sat there and 'gazed'
(lmao - and exuded fumes of adoration)
The tears are at the sheer beauty of such a majestic sight...*cough cough gag*
Honestly I don't know which of them would win in a staring contest...
Thanks! I did originally want to draw her face, but meh, it's better that I didn't. She knows what you threw in the trash, she knows.
I'm not sure when you'll meet her again, maybe soon, depending on what we plan to happen next as Cain will have to find her - she's not just hanging around, she's a busy woman with a lot of garbage to rifle through.
(I just need to edit it then I'll upload it to the folder - but the beginning is a part you have already read so you can skip that)

I love how unsettling this is but also that it makes me want to know more about this character!!  The repeating theme of the pinprick eyes receding into the background is a very nice effect, and it goes well with the bars radiating out from The Feral Witch Girl's head to symbolize the passage you posted with the picture.  I'm loving all these black and white pieces you've been posting as of late!  They fit with the mood of the story and make it seem even more dark and mysterious. ;D

Thank you! I did plan on writing a chapter for her, but am uncertain at this moment in time :D I have the rough beginning written somewhere but need to find a place to insert it, if at all. Lol I was afraid those eyes may end up looking 'stupid', but I'm glad they don't.
Thanks! They've given me a chance to go back to something I haven't drawn in absolute ages, and that's more dark-themed art

You're welcome!  Ohhh, is she a side character (or someone important in a character's past)??

Oh no, they look suitably menacing! :fear:

Haha!  I recall seeing some of your art for the Wych story and how dark some of those pieces were...

She is, I guess, a side character, I have yet to write her in to the current chapters (but I will)  she's in someone's past but not entirely important to it aside from a single event (because I mean I suppose said character would not have a present if it weren't for her lol, but who remembers that as important!)

Oh lol, yeah that story needs a lot of reworking (though I'm still pretty pleased with the history and political system I made for that)

A good catalyst character is always needed in protagonist/antagonist pasts, plus it'll be fun to reread the story and see how she connects and shows up in the main character's actions in the future 6_6

I was impressed with the amount of history and politics and rules of magic you went into for that one from reading some of the character sheets!  And I was also entertained to find out how William, Sandwell, and Gabriel started out so differently in comparison to their Alverdale incarnations :D

So was she raised in the wild by these foxes, like Mowgli grew up with wolves in The Jungle Book?

Not quite, she had a family once, a mother at least, back in her home country (as yet unnamed in this AU)
