Chinchero, located in the sacred valley of the Incas in Peru, is mostly famous for its arts and crafts market. People in the town still walk around in their traditional clothing, and while the men play football next to the archeological site of Chinchero, the women are chatting and seated up an Inca wall. At 3762m high up in the Andes there is also an Inca site, which is supposed to have been a country resort of Inca Tupac Yupanqui. According to the legends, Chinchero is believed to be the mythical birthplace of the rainbow. There are numerous agricultural terraces, of which some are still in use today. The church is also a point of interest, mostly for the colourful murals.
