Isomara Basics:
Isomara Species Trait Guide
Isomara Species Information
INTRODUCTION
Gooms are fatty amphibian Creatures. They have four round eyes and membrane sacks on their round blubbery bodies.
First discovered off the coast of the Island by an Isomara. That were mistaken for squids.
Gooms get their name from the slimy liquid from which they spew. The goo that runs through their body is highly poisonous and when enraged or threatened is released from their mouths.
Isomara and gooms have a mutual bond with each other. they protect and help each other. Continue to read more below!
What do gooms do in the game?
Gooms can be equipped to Isomaras through IsomaraIndex and be companions. When a goom is accompanied with an Isomara during exploration the goom will help by finding and gather more items.
They also give an Isomara a helping hand with enemy encounters by giving them a better chance at successfully fleeing/fighting.
Companion Rules-
- Isomara can only have one goom companioned at a time (unless stated otherwise such as a class perk)
Companion Perks-
- Can help find more items in various biomes when exploring
- Can enter Monday Maze Races
- Gives a bonus modifier to successfully fighting/flighting from an encounter
Traits Explained-
Antenna:
Gooms have full control of their antennas. They can move them around. They help with feeling their surroundings and detecting vibrations.
Membrane Shape:
Membrane sacks are protrusions on a gooms body. They are filled with goo and the membrane is rather thick.
If a membrane sack is primarily circle/oval but also looks like an uncommon shape it will be labeled uncommon.
Example:

Membrane Amount:
Not shown above, but a number of sacks visible on gooms are different from goom to goom. Also, Membrane sacks on goom are symmetrical. If there is a small cheek sack on the left there will be on on the right.
Goo Color/Design:
There is a story of a goom who accidentally ate an apple whole and later was found to have apple seeds in the goo. This goom spewed apple seed goo for the rest of its life and even passed this odd trait to its offspring.
Other Traits:
Known other traits: Spikes, Tadpole Tail, Orb tail, Fuzzy, plate armor, Horn
Special Traits:
SIZE
An average goom is about two (2) foot long from head to tail and a foot high. Goom eggs range from one-inch in diameter to three inches in diameter.
When it comes to weight a goom can vary between just a few pounds to nearly thirty pounds. So do not be fooled. Two gooms of the same size and shape could weigh two totally different amounts.
LIFE EXPECTANCY
~10 years. The oldest goom recorded was 17 years. A goom reaches maturity at one year. At that point, it's body will be fully grown and will no longer be a tadpole.
As gooms reach the end of their life they stop producing goo and their membrane sacks will deflate. When the goo production begins to decrease it also begin to dull and become lifeless. The potency of the poison also begins to weaken making older gooms more susceptible to predators.
APPEARANCE
Their bodies are round/oblong in shape with plump tails that tend to have a bend/bump. Their mouths are actually hidden under three jowels. The jowels are fleshy and hang over the mouth, but can move and show expression like a human mouth would.
The eyes of a goom are always white with no pupils. They too are round and there are always four of them. The second smaller pair can be below or above the larger pair, but must always be behind the first pair. Each can blink independently, however, gooms end to mimic other species and have them blink in pairs.
INTELLIGENCE & BEHAVIOR
Very simple minded creatures with a brain the size of a peanut. Gooms tend to be very dense and clumsy. Good thing they have a very high pain tolerance. They are oddly very good at avoiding harm and surviving.
Gooms are very limited in their facial expressions. Anger, Happiness, and alertness are the only emotion they can avidly show. Their antennae usually help perceive the emotions of sadness and fear (Feel free to draw your goom with whatever emotions you want).
GOO
Goom goo is a substance that flows through their entire body. In addition to normal veins filled with blood, they also have a set of veins flowing throughout their body filled with goo. Goo is stored in packets that have a thick membrane around them. Goo is assumed to be created in the salivation glands in a gooms mouth and leaks into their mouth as well as carries throughout their whole body. Since gooms do not have normal salivation glands they actually spew goo whenever they sneeze or a cough as well.
Goo is a poisonous semi-slimy substance. Creatures can be poisoned just be touching it as it can be absorbed by the skin. Usually, skin contact only renders itching and burning, however, ingesting goo or getting it in any wounds or orifices can cause severe sickness and in some cases death (Roughly 1 gallon could lead to death)
This slimy substance can also be used for a variety of things as it has a near unpredictable effect. No isomara really can grasp what causes goo to do what it does. Goo can be used to grow crops at an abnormally fast rate, as glue, used in dyes to make more permanent dyes. Witch doctors also use goom goo as a common ingredient for serums and mixtures.

Mentioned prior goom goo is poisonous. It is mainly a defense mechanism to wear off predators. Isomara are able to touch goo thanks to their very dense and thick fur. So even if they are spewed with goo as long as it does not get into any open wounds or orifices the Isomara will be fine.
DIET
Gooms are primarily herbivores. They feast on fruits, vegetables, and other plant material. They also from time to time feast on small insects such as butterflies and worms.
MATING & LIFE CYCLE
Isomara have concluded that Gooms do feel and have some sort of love, but are very open and tend to be polyamorous. Gooms are simultaneous hermaphrodites having both male and female reproductive organs. Any goom thus can breed with any other goom. A single pair of gooms can create a clutch of 5-20 eggs, however, many of these eggs are faux and will not be fertilized. This is actually a function of their evolution. This prevents predators from trying to eat or steal them all. Having a larger clutch provides a higher chance of surviving for the goom species.
Gooms start out as small fragile eggs. They hatch as tadpoles. All marking, colors, and antennae are present at birth. As they grow older their nubby little legs grow. Gooms reach adulthood after one year and soon after can mate.
RELATION WITH ISOMARAS:
Gooms are not pets. They are respected by Isomara and act as companions. This odd partnership is very beneficial to both. Isomara provide protection while Gooms help with supplying Isomara food from their small island off the coast. Many gooms will leave their teal island habitat and live with Isomara.
They simply love Isomara. They often enjoy snuggling up to them and sleeping in their manes and on their tales. While Isomara enjoy tossing around gooms like balls.
