I watched the movie. I though it was pretty good. It also tell us more about Timmy then just being a sick boy in the first movie. I think both movies are good.

Set a mouse trap for that bastard. I'm sure Timmy would be dumb enough to fall for it.

Nice artwork, and I'm sorry to say that I saw this movie on television when it came out, and I never saw the original film until a decade later.

I wouldn't blame the characters. I would blame the writers of this movie.

And the one thing that sticks in my mind is why did Timothy make a remark about wearing the same underwear three days in a row...? :O_o:

:iconnostalgiacriticplz::iconsaysplz: You're not even wearing PANTS!!

Even more awkward, when they call our attention to the fact our heroes are half-naked! :XD:

Wonder if it's more like the joke in some cartoons where animals wear their fur like suits, if they took them off (either it's ripped off our some other reason), they're in underwear anyway.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9a7Qw…

And that's basically a gag we often saw a lot in those cartoons that were meant to be silly and not serious at all (which Secret of NIMH, in the first film, did effectively well at showing how mortal these guys were in their struggle).

Hehe... silly cartoon... :XD:
Like Tom losing his fur to Jerry at times and being in underwear...

The writers who wrote that line in NIMH2 must have been having a stab at how silly the premise was, implying that this was a less-than-serious cartoon sequel... ;p
At least Eric Idle seemed to be having fun, though. (As seen in the Nostalgia Critic's review)

"The writers who wrote that line in NIMH2 must have been having a stab at how silly the premise was, implying that this was a less-than-serious cartoon sequel..."

We can only assume that's what it was (much in the way I loathed the sequel to "All Dogs Go To Heaven", that even had a similar gag of Carface getting his fur shaved off leaving briefs momentarily before those had to go too).

I never saw THAT sequel, though I can quite believe it - all I saw of NIMH2 was clips from the Critic's review...
True of a fair number of films, really - I learned of their existence through watching Doug satirising and making fun of how bad they were in his long-running series of nostalgic reviews! :XD:

In fact, any sequels that they made, Don Bluth was NEVER involved in any of them!

It's like as if he doesn't care about being in there or is it that he's trying to let it be their fault and not this! That makes a good point! ;D

It really raises the question of why. Why did a movie that was fine by itself need to get a sequel?

It was. And it should say that way.

I remember I was actually excited about the sequel.

I tried to actually send in a script and artwork to Don Bluth for a sequel once, but was told it was never going to happen, because there was no plan for any sequel for legal reasons.

That was a long time ago.

Imagine my surprise when, these many years later, I found out a sequel came out recently (at the time).

I was watching TV one morning, and they show about two seconds of the sequence of Timmy arriving in Thorn Valley on Jeremy, the shot while they're still in the air. And I catch with this a glimpse of the title. "The Secret of NIMH II" ... and some sub title.

That's all I got.

I was, like, "HOLY COW!!!", sitting bolt upright, and ran out to get it.

Later, when I ran it it my mom, I was SO embarrassed that I asked her to join me for a sequel of one of our fave movies. I was so embarrassed when I saw what kiddy-fied garage it was, and wished I'd screened it first.

I mean, it's a sequel to NIMH, right? What could possibly go wrong? LOL!!! XD

*shuffles awkwardly* I liked the movie. Not the best movie, but I've long ago accepted that most sequels do not live up to the original, so I thought it was okay.

If you didn't like it, what was you didn't like? The plot, the animation, the voice acting, the songs? Enlighten me, I'm interested in learning the answers. :)

I only know of it's reputation. Still, I'd like to see how it is. I am rather forgiving when it comes to movies. Heck, I found the Super Mario Bros movie kinda decent. I think the biggest mistake was making it about the Mario bros. If it was about original characters, it may have been just a little better received.

There's the general consensus as to whether it's good or not, but what's really important is whether YOU like it or not. We all have different likes and dislikes. I've yet to find a movie that is 100% hated (though I've found contenders), and I personally haven't seen the movie.
I even found the Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie as not too bad, but I do agree that there are quite a bit of flaws.
As my wine class instructor says, "Go with what you like."

who even liked this film? i mean, Nostalgia Critic made a very reasonable review about why it sucks and even when i first saw it, it was a very bad sequel of a great film. if i did have to say something positive about it though....um.....that one song by Timmy's brother was ok if only for the fact it was weird.
