Skylertoons Plays High On Life

So back in 2019, I did a SkylerToons Plays drawing for the game "Trover saves the Universe" made by the same guys who made "Rick and Morty: Virtual Rickality"

However when I posted that drawing, I never really played the game before... until the next year where I managed to get the game for cheap along with the DLC. I managed to beat the game but also get all trophies on the day that I got it. Don't believe me? see for yourself lol psnprofiles.com/trophies/9057-…

Overall, I still liked the drawing along with the Rick and Morty VR game, so now the creator of the games have return with a brand new game called "High on Life"
This time around, High on Life is not like the other games being in VR, because this game is a full on First Person Shooter game with talking guns, weird aliens, and tons of crazy stuff



(Story)
So abunch of drug lord aliens are invading Earth, and capturing humans to use them... as drugs.
So now you as a human, have to team up with a "gatlian" named Kenny to track down thes drug lords, kill them, save the earth along with the humans, and pretty much be a bounty hunter.
thats about it with the plot, but I roll with it lol




(Gatlians aka the Guns)
So you may be wondering what the hell are "Gatlians" right? Well their the guns in this game... and they also can talk. (theres also a setting where you can shut the guns up most of the time expect when they need to talk)
There are a total of 4 gatlians that you will unlock during the game, along with a 5th gatlian that you can only use during the final level, and also a melee weapon that also can talk. Lets run them down shall we?


1st Gatlian: Kenny is the first gatlian that the player will unlock when you first start the game. He is your standard pistol handgun type of weapon. His voice is also pretty similar to Morty from Rick and Morty. But he also has a trick up his non-exsisting sleeve called his "Trick-Hole" (All gatlians have a Trick-Hole and they all have infinity ammo)
Kenny's Trick-Hole: Glob-Shot. Its kinda like shooting a granade of glob where you can either use it to fire at some platforms, but if you fire Kenny's Glob-Shot at enemies, it will launch them up into the air which allows you to juggle them (aka shoot them in the air until you need to reload)



2nd Gatlian: Gus is either the 2nd or the 3rd gatlian that the player will unlock after beating the boss "Krubis" 
He is the standard shotgun type of weapon, he starts off with only 3 shots per-reload, however later on in the game, you can upgrade to carry more shots. also when aiming, Gus can suck a few enemies in closer to the player.
Gus Trick-Hole: Discs. Gus can fire off these huge metal discs at hot-walls that can be used as some extra platforms, however in combat, these discs can do damage to enemies as well, and sometimes if your quick enough before the discs can land on the floor, use melee on it and they will go flying at enemies again.




3rd Gatlian: Sweezy is either the 2nd or 3rd gatlian that the player will unlock after beating the boss "Douglas" (Douglas in the game is voiced by Tom Kenny aka the voice of Spongebob so thats abit funny to me lol)
Sweezy is kinda like SMG type of gun that rapid fires crystal shards, (she also reminds me of that crystal gun that you can get in the Halo games, Im sure u all know what gun I'm talking about right?) so yeah, you can fire abunch of crystals into abunch of enemies, but if u use melee on an enemy that has crytals in them, it will do extra damage, however if you aim and fire, you can fire one super crystal.
Sweezy's Trick-Hole: Time Bubbles. If a platform is moving too fast, simily use Sweezy's Time Bubble to slow it down for a short amount of time. you can also use the Time Bubbles on enemies as well to slow them down.




4th Gatlian: Creature is the 4th gatlian that the player will unlock before going up against "The Skrendel Brothers"
Creature is abit of a complicated kind of weapon, he is also to fire off his childern and make them fight for you and when he reloads... he kinda gives birth to more kids to fire away  
these lil guys can take damage over time on enemies, and can be used in some vent puzzles
Creature's Trick-Hole: Mind controlling child. when firing at an enemy, this child can control that enemy for a short amount of time and make them fight for you.



Melee: So we finally get to our only melee weapon. Kniefy. He's exactly what you think he is, he's a knife lol
The player will unlock him before going up agisnt the first boss in the game "9Tork"
He dose melee damage, he can perform some death animations twords enemies once you damage them enough, and he's the only way for you to open up lootboxes. He always talks about wanting to kill people in the most craziest ways... sounds like the perfect weapons for SWS lol
Knifey's Trick-Hole: Tethering. Knifey is able to grable onto flying bugs to give the player a lil boost up, grable onto railings, Gus's Discs in hot-walls, and certain edges





(My thoughts on the game)
So I played the game on my old Xbox One so I will admit that there were a few issues, so lets start with those. Long loading screens, audio going out of sync sometimes, random loading times when entering and exiting in certain areas in the game, the game crashed on me at least once, and there were a few times where I got stuck and had to load to the last checkpoint.
However I belive that is only becuase I was playing the game on my old Xbox One aka last gen consoles instead of next gen consoles. Not to mention that before even playing the game, you get a disclamer that the game may have a few bugs, but thats part of the joke, so I just thought ok then.

However despite these issues that I had with the game, I still enjoyed it overall.
The game looked great and colorful from its art design, to its creatures, the guns, enemies, the bosses where pretty cool, there were pretty funny parts to me and some parts that were weird but made me chuckle abit.
I will admit that I have also died a few times but mostly towards boss fights and a few times from some enemies so it wasn't easy (I played the game on Normal)
I manage to beat the game yesterday as well btw lol
So yeah overall, even tho the game had a few issues I still had a pretty great time playing it and I honestly kinda hope that they make a sequel or maybe a DLC later on in the future or something.






(The Drawing)
So TBH I wasnt sure on what to do for the drawing, I was gonna try to make like a battle drawing with me and some enemies but then I decided to just simiply do this funny-is like drawing.
So this drawing is just me chilling on the couch after dealing with another bounty, my helmet right next to me, along with Kenny and Gene (Gene is your alien room mate in the game. he's also the previous owner of your bounty hunter suit. IDK why happen to his legs or his eye lol) and just the bros watching TV
while in the background we have Lizzie (Lizzie is your sister in the game) and we have... Liz? MY real life sister Liz
The reason why I added my sister Liz in this drawing was because I thought it would be a funny lil joke since in the game you have a sister named Lizzie and my sister's name is Liz and so I thought why not.
and both Lizzie and Liz are just looking at each other like,
Lizzie: Who the hell are you?
Liz: Who the hell am I? Who the fuck are you?! Where the fuck am I? Skyler, Where are we? why are you wearing that stupid outfit?! WTF?!!!!

Anyway I also added in Knifey in the table, a spilled can of Mountain Dew (I was lazy to write "Mountain Dew" so I just wrote "Do the Dew" lol) and we have the cut off head of Mr. Meeseeks from Rick and Morty, because I just felt like showing a cut off head... and because I'm a psychopath lol XD



Anyway thats pretty much all I got to say about the drawing and the game
I had a good time doing both the drawing and playing the game and I hope u all like the drawing.

Do I recommend this game? Maybe, but I highly recommend that you play the game on either next gen xbox or on PC as it wont be as bad and also play it on gamepass.
So I give High on life either a 7 or a 7.5 out of 10 (Good)
