Description
So lets run down the list of things that I've drawn and talked about in my souls-like game "The Sins of our Creator"
so far I've drawn 4 bosses (5 if you count the Rya boss idea drawing I did a long time ago)
Sam: The beast of many forms, Cenders: The Frozen Sun, Crystal the Loveless, and Comet of Blind Wisdom.
and so far I've drawn 3 NPC's being The Nobody, Edgar Allen Crow, and Stitches.
and here we go with ANOTHER NPC for my souls game.
This NPC, I've been looking forward to making for a while and I am happy to finally showing it to u all today.
got lore for this guy, an questline for him, a few other neat stuff about him.
BUT before I talk about him, I just wanted to give a lil update about my souls-like. So I finally decided as to what the official name for the games whole world.
"The Canvas of Creations"
Now lets get on with the NPC stuff lol
NPC's name: Alfred Cook (Last son of the house of Cooks)
(Where the player first meets Alfred)
The player will meet Alfred when they arrive to the games hub area for the first time. (still working on the name of the hub area, but this place will have mostly NPC's that you may meet in the future, a few merchants, a blacksmith, and of course a maiden but we'll get to that when we get to that lol) you will see Alfred sitting on a crate by himself looking like he has nothing left going on in his life... while also missing his arm.
If the player interacts with Alfred, he will be pretty much rude to the player. Basically he says to the player, "Piss off"
So yeah when you first meet Alfred, he's a bit not in the mood.
and each time you interact with him after you kill a boss, he'll be abit of an asshole about it... until you've killed the 5th boss, he'll start to get a lil bit impressed overtime.
(Alfred's Questline)
How to start Alfred's Questline is simply but complicated. The way to start his questline is just keep killing bosses in the game, and his questline will start after you talk to him after killing the 5th boss, where he will start to get impressed the more bosses you kill.
In order to progress in his questline is that once you kill the 10th boss, you will need to speak with Alfred, BUT the player will need to have a certain item equip to them. what they need to equip before speaking to Alfred is an "arm" (Arms are one of the many weapons types in my souls-like. you can have like a squid arm, bear arm, and so on) then Alfred will say this to the player.
Alfred: (if you don't have an arm equip) Oh hey, as I live and breath. Still fighting a good fight huh? *chuckles abit* I'd shake your hand but... *looks at his numb* well... you know. A-anyway, uuuhh... keep doing whacha doing. Don't let me bug you.
Alfred: (if you do have an arm equip) Well as I live a breath. Still fighting a good fight huh? *chuckles abit* I'm honestly impressed. I'd shake your hand but uuuh... well you know. *notice the arm that the player has equipped and then looks at his numb* Hmmmm... *thinking but then shakes his head out of it* Oh! sorry, I got lost in my mind abit. Anyway, keep doing whcha doing. Don't let me bug you. *has an idea*
If the player talks to Alfred with an arm equip, then you have progressed his questline and the next time you visit the hub area, he will not be there.
Alfred had left the hub in order to search for some materials.
once you interact with Alfred in the hub area again, he will look abit different. yes he will be covered in a few bruises, but the biggest surprise with him is that he now has a prosthetic arm and he's abit more good mood in a way.
Alfred: *slowly learning to move the fingers to his prosthetic arm until he notice the player* oh hey! Good to see ya again dude. Check it out, *shows off his prosthetic arm* I uuuh, well I might of went out there and uhhh well grab a few things. and then brought them to that blacksmith here. I gotta say, that old man dose a damn good job. *still trying to use his fingers* hey, how about that handshake huh? *shakes the players hand* Alright! seems to be working right for now.
After beating a certain boss later on in the game and go to the hub area, Alfred will once again be gone, but if you go to the place where you beat that boss, you will find Alfred looking around until he finds what he's looking for as he pulls a sword out of the ground.
The sword had a rusted like look upon the blade, abit chipped, an old leathery handle and the whole sword just looks like it was lost in time, but to Alfred, this was something special as he holds it up above.
Alfred: *turns to the player when the player interacts with him. his tone is serious* oh. hey, I wasn't expecting you to be here. *the player ask why is he there* Me? I'm... *looks down at the blade in his hands* I'm here to reclaim something that I've lost. Something that... I thought I would never have again. This means alot to me. *The player asks what makes this sword so special*
After that Alfred then begin to explain alot about himself, the sword and his family
(Lore from The House of Cooks) (its a WIP
so some of the stuff might make no sense)
The House of Cooks was a family of men from generations upon generations achieving almost every kind of goal to be known through out history.
However the Cooks were deemed as menaces for the deeds that they had committed through out their time and so were casted away from everyone. (some of the Cooks have been good people helping the many people, while some Cooks were full on barbarians causing trouble)
However Alfred was different. He was sick and tired of being treated as if he was a nobody or a menace, and he wanted to do whatever he could to bring honor back to his family name.
So when Alfred was 13, he ran away from home and never looked back. But he also took something with him as he left, he stole "The Blade of Cooks"
The Blade of Cooks was handed down from generations to generations and was used to defend others.
During Alfred's entire life after running away from home, he began his own path of being remembered. He took the path of hunting down monsters to protect the many people, even when they don't show him appreciation for his deeds.
As Alfred grew more and more, so did his skills, his sense, his strength, and his spirit. He had never lost to a man nor a beast... until one day... when the Creator abandoned "The Canvas of Creations"
Things began to get harder for Alfred, and harder and harder, until one day, he was betrayed by an old friend of his who became corrupted. He took Alfred's arm, unable to fight back more, Alfred ran again.
That was the first blow to Alfred. The 2nd blow is one day, he wanted to try to be strong as he attempt to fight a beast with just his one arm, but... that didn't work and he lost the sword.
with only one arm and no sword... Alfred felt as if he had felled himself, he lost the will to keep fighting, he was truly... nothing. So Alfred then retired to the (hub area) and simply waited... waited for death to take him away, ending his bloodline.
After a while, as you continue on with the game story, you will finally encounter the 13-ish main story boss (WIP boss lol)
this boss happens to be the old "friend" that took Alfred's arm years ago. Normally when you encounters a boss, you get a cutscene of the boss before the fight starts, HOWEVER, if the player manages to do Alfred's Questline, the cutscene will be changed abit
The cutscene will pretty much be the same but then changed abit as the camera then positions far away from the player and then Alfred walks in while armed with The Blade of Cooks, as he says "Hello old friend. Its been years, I've come to put you down for good, and reclaim what you took from me"
During this boss fight, Alfred will assist the player into fighting the boss. Alfred has a few tricks up his sleeves.
he can attack the boss with sword attacks and whip attacks (The Blade of Cooks, has 2 forms. The Blade can be in a sword form, but if you press the button on a handle, the sword blade will turn into whip mode which causes bleed damage to the boss) Not only that, but his prosthetic arm can also form into a folding shield to block any attacks that comes his way.
However during the boss fight, the player can damage Alfred during the fight as well by mistake so be careful.
So when you beat the boss, you of course get a trophy/achievement for the boss, however if you do Alfred's Questline and if you beat the boss with Alfred still alive then you get a bonus trophy/achievement called "Alfred's 2nd Wind"
Alfred: *panting due to the fight* that... that was abit intense for me. Its been a while *chuckles lightly* I honestly never thought I would be here again. *turns his head where the boss died* I can still feel the pain from when he took my arm... but... now we're even. well kinda even, but still. But may Death bring him peace. *feeling a sense of peace* I feel alot better now. *the player is about to leave* Wait! I just want to say... thank you. I know that I've been nothing more than an asshole to you since we met, but... if it wasn't for you... I wouldn't be here right now, and for that... I thank you greatly. I feel like, I can follow a new path for remembrance, thanks to you. But... can I ask for once last request from you?
Do you think that we can be... friends? I know that I hardly deserve that that kind of request, but... can it be possible?
The player is given a choice of YES or NO
Alfred: *if the player chooses NO* *his tone sound disappointing but understanding* oh... I see. I understand, I should of expected that. But, I still do appreciate your help. Until we meet again, Farewell. *leaves*
Alfred: *if the player chooses YES* *his tone is calm but also a sense of happiness* Oh thank you, truly. I swear on my soul, that I appreciate your kindness. No matter what happens between the 2 of us, no matter what happens to me, if I go mad or worse, I will forever be your friend, as you will be mine as well. You truly are one of the good ones. I wish good luck on you quest, until we meet again, farewell... friend. *leaves*
and so that is the end of Alfred's Questline... oh wait no its not, because there is like 2 ways that Alfred's Questline can end, based on the future choices you do later on in the game that will effect the world of the game.
For Alfred's Questline, theirs 2 endings, a GOOD, and a BAD (there was going to be a pretty depressing Ending for Alfred, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work so I just scraped it)
Good Ending to Alfred: Alfred now with his new chance at life, he goes to travel and far and wide for the sense of adventure for everyone to remember him as "Alfred Cook: Last son of The House of Cooks"
Bad Ending to Alfred: Based on the choices that the player could make later on in the story, they can possibly trigger pretty much an apocalyptic mood to the Canvas of Creations which effects almost everyone including Alfred. Alfred now gone mad, begins a killing spree, murdering anything and everything that he sees, and then returns to his old house and murders his remaining family members, leaving him as the soul remain of the family of Cooks.
and if you go to his house and enter, he will lock you in and will try to kill you. But of course you will kill him with his final words being "The House of Cooks... is no more."
(if the bad ending to Alfred's questline has happens and you kill him, the player will get a trophy/achievement called "The Bloodline Ends")
However this might not be the ending to Alfred's story as I might think about doing a standalone DLC for my game, where you play as Alfred on his new quest or whatever idk lol
Anyway thats all I got to say about Alfred, his lore, his questline and all that good stuff.
(Art Work)
Alfred is a character that I've really wanting to work on but just never had the time to do so until now.
the original inspiration for Alfred is abit complicated. Back before I ever came up with Alfred, I did originally did had an idea for 2 more family members in the Toons family being "Grandpa Toons" and "Great Grandpa Toons" from my side of the family, however their real last names are Cook, and I was going to make like a crazy complicated story about my last name being Toons when really its Cook and blah blah blah stuff, but the story got abit too complicated so I jsut decided to scrap it but who knows, maybe I'll try to make it offical or something.
and When coming up with Grandpa Toons and Great Grandpa Toons, I then came up with another family member but from WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in the old days.
I based Alfred off of the Castlevania character "Trevor Belmont" however could not make the character's name "Trevor Cook" since I already have a family member named Trevor aka both Ashlee and my son.
But then one day I was playing a Castlevania like game called "Bloodstained: Curse of the moon" (its a pretty cool retro game, go check it out) and one of the playable characters was named Alfred and so I just went with that name.
and so thats how Alfred Cook was created.
As for Alfred's design, I pretty much based it off of a character creation thing that I did in the most recent soul calibur game and I just rolled with that and changed afew things here and there.
I also based his design off a few Dark souls characters along with Sekrio due to his prosthetic arm (I couldn't come up with a better design lol)
and for Alfred's weapon, I based it off of both the soul calibur game along with the cane weapon from Bloodborne. I just wanted to give Alfred a sword and a whip so I just made it 2 in 1 lol
also I was originally going to give Alfred a beard but for some unknown reason, I just decided NOT to. But if I do another drawing of him then maybe I'll give him a beard lol
This drawing took me a whole day to do, and I hope u all like the hard work that I put into it.
Thats pretty much all I have to say for now, until then, have a great day.
Alfred: I'm Alfred Cook. Last son of the House of Cooks. and Death... has never frighten me. (idk why I added in this line, I just felt like it lol)
so far I've drawn 4 bosses (5 if you count the Rya boss idea drawing I did a long time ago)
