It's possible to perform some simple distributed renders on local computers using GNU Parallel, as an alternative to working with render farm management software. GNU Parallel runs on *nix and macOS, but it's possible to use Windows render nodes running Cygwin after some basic ssh configuration.

E.g. assuming a .blend file with all resources packed and set to 2000 samples, the first line would distribute a single frame render across 2 computers as 20 chunks of 100 samples, and tidy up temporary files when finished; the Blender file is transferred (and tidied) automatically. The second line combines the chunks to form the final 2000 sample image:

seq 20 | parallel -S1/render@127.0.0.1,1/render@192.168.0.12 --progress --plus --basefile render.blend --return 1_{#}.exr --cleanup blender -b render.blend -o \"#\"_{#} -F EXR -f 1 -- --cycles-resumable-num-chunks {##} --cycles-resumable-current-chunk {#} "> /dev/null 2>&1"

convert 1_*.exr -evaluate-sequence mean -alpha off -compress zip final.exr

Do you have a blender file of the Liberator's teleport section?

Yes, it's on layer 1 of the model.

Can your Liberator flight deck be converted into an obj file or Poser file?

If you load the model into Blender, and go to File -> Export, it's the first option.

As with most exporters, it's probably worth sifting through the export options to tilt the export towards something that best suits your workflow. There are a few things like modifier stacks that may need a little manual tuning prior to export.

If you get stuck, let me know.

Hi, love your work, I have been offered a display at Coventry Comic con in October 2017 and asked on a couple of forums if anybody had a hi-res image of the flight deck wall with Zen, and was sent one of your images to make into a 8x6ft banner for the rear wall, so with my props in front it would be a great photo shoot for the public, all free as I make custom items so it is for a fun photo shoot for free (as people get charged over the top for stuff at conventions and the shows I have done in the past people like to have their photo taken with items, but they always look like they are at a show.
I must be old school as we were brought up to ask before using anything that is not mine, so asking if it is ok to use your fantastic image to cover the wall on our display.
Thanks in advance,
Richard Bailey

Hi Richard,

Good luck at the Comic Con, you're very welcome to use an image, please just include an attribution to skororu.deviantart.com.

If you need a higher resolution image more suitable for a large format print - or a different aspect ratio to suit the dimensions of the print - I can render something more suitable for you - just let me know.

S.

Thank you!

I have an updated version of the 3D model that looks better; if you can let me know which image you're planning to use I can re-render it for you.
