Yeah, Freakboy's life's supposed to be pretty miserable, which includes having a lousy diet. I'm reminded of the guy from Supersize Me who got really sick after eating only fast food. It's kind of a low-blow for the announcer to tease Freakboy about it, but, obviously, everybody but Freakboy's getting a kick out of it.
As for the previous Skippy webcomics, it shouldn't be necessary at all to read them. I address it a little on the About page [link]
. I'm aware, though, that there's not really much exposition in this comic, which may or may not be a good decision. The story's told through Freakboy's point-of-view, so it's more focused on his situation than the "outside world." Still, I'm planning for there to be at least a little world-building spread throughout the chapters. It's also interested in what the readers think about things like the psychology and sociology of the characters, as that's probably more important than my intentions as a creator anyways.
