makes me rly sad when ppl dont call themselves a furry bc they "don't want to be associated with the fandom" as if the fandom is an inherently bad thing. im so sorry you encountered something or someone that made you feel ashamed or embarrassed to be part of such an amazing and welcoming community :( like..i get some ppl dont like parts of the fandom, i especially dont like Certain Parts (nazifurs and zoos........), but those parts dont Make the fandom what it is. its just furry is such a broad fandom that its attracted someone from every walk of life, which in itself is a blessing and a curse. honestly you just have to see the fandom for its good parts and block out the nasty parts bc im very certain the majority of the fandom is not like that and we dont approve or condone that behavior idk. the furry fandom means an incredible amount to me personally, and knowing its history makes it especially feel that way. ive met so many amazing people and artists through it and it just
