This dress is inspired by the Achilles Tang Tropical Fish. And a continuation of my ocean and marine inspired dresses I had planned long ago. I wanted this dress to be bold and make a statement, much like the fish it's inspired by.

This was another piece I started for February Daily Draw over at Satellite Soda ([link]) I hope to finish up inking and colouring all of the sketches I did for FDD by the end of March, so I'll likely be uploading more of these every few days or so. That's the plan anyway!

I ask that you please do not re-post this anywhere without crediting me, or use this design without my permission as I hope to do something with these designs in the future :)

Was looking for images of Achilles Tang on Google and your awesome dress popped up. It is so beautiful, it makes me wish a dress like this was available for purchase! I can't wait to see the rest in your line ocean-inspired dresses!!

Hello Lindsay -- I happened upon your fish-inspired designs recently, and just have to say that they're amazing. You've done an awesome job adapting these natural patterns into really believable and beautiful dress designs. Hope you keep up this series -- so many more ideas out there in the fish world!

I write the blog Better Know a Fish ([link]) and I'd love to feature the Achilles tang design in a post about the Achilles tang. May I have permission to repost this image? I will of course credit you and link back to this page (or whichever link you prefer).

Thanks!

Thank you so much! :D I do plan on continuing this series, so there will certainly be more in the future.

You are welcome to post any of these fish-inspired designs as long as you give a link back to the original (credit is nice too if you like) :) I'm happy you picked this one though as it is one of my favorites! Thanks! Btw, I'd love to read the article when you post it ;]

Aw, thanks! Glad you enjoyed the post and learned something new!

I would be happy to feature more of your work and will let you know when I do. I might even send some ideas that might inspire new designs. In fact, here's one I'm curious what you'd make of it: [link]. And here's another: [link]

Excellent! Thanks, Lindsay -- really appreciate it. Some of my other favorites are your greenbanded goby, sailfin tang, basking shark (love how you turned the gills into sleeve vents). But the threadfin butterfly hits it out of the park -- love how the pattern is blended with the wrap design..

Oh and I happened upon your blog via this link: [link] (love the moray tail sash detail on this dress).

I'll post the link when the Achilles post is up. Thanks again!

I love to hear that you like the Threadfin Butterfly one so much. It's probably my favorite, it's certainly the design I am most pleased with. If I were to make any of these dresses that would be the one I'd start with :] Thank you again for such nice words about my work, it's inspiring to hear such appreciation - I'm excited to continue with this series!
