Raven DeviantID by A rather neat black and white deviantID, using bold lines and shading to capture the look of a raven. The cameo necklace hanging from its beak is a really nice touch. (And of course, brings a certain famous poem to mind. )
badday by This photograph was taken on a rough day for the artist. It's interesting to see how, even in photography, our emotions and current state of mind can come across in unexpected ways. The red sky and silhouette of the tree and surrounding landscape creates a rather somber, dark image- rather fitting for the title.
GUSH+ by Very cool use of color. The simple shape of the hair seems almost like a starry night sky is lying within, and the orange color section the eyes are in pops rather well against many of the cooler colors within this.
Father by Beautiful. Lovely example of work done in watercolor. I'm particularly drawn to how the artist has done the background and the grey hair of the figure. The trees are dreamy and nicely done.
With the wind by Love the deep blue of the sky and the focus on the wheat blowing in the wind. This is definitely a striking photograph!
Ghost Girl is Haunting Me by With a nice build up of tension and based off of a dream, Ghost Girl is Haunting Me has a lot of promise and makes for a great quick read. The setting is worked in nicely and one is left wondering who is afraid in this little story- the narrator, the ghost... or both?
Ghost Girl Is Haunting Me
Her icy breath stroked my neck causing each little blonde hair to stand on end. My ears began to buzz with the pounding of blood behind my eyes; I descended the stairs. Beneath white knuckles, the varnished wood creaked as I gripped it in some attempt to halt the rest of me. Curiosity had leashed my attention and was now jerking my person down stone-carved steps. The heart fluttered in rebellion but the mind steamrolled on toward what I know was certain doom. Down into the lowest levels of the house we went until we reached an unlit chamber. The walls, floors and ceiling were all grey. A large fracture marred the wall only one or two feet above the ground, winding up toward the first floor of the house. Peering into the dark center of its fissure, I felt the fear wave over me, nearly suffocating. Cardboard boxes were stacked neatly in one corner of the room while the other side held, what looked like, old furniture covered in old sheets.
I feel her excitement as if it were my own; her
fav.me/d57dvc3 20th Anniversary Sailor Project by Really good coloring work done as a project of speed paints, focusing on ten of the Sailor scouts from Sailor Moon. Check it out, and be sure to look at the rest of the artist's gallery!
Love Heart Beat by A clever take on the EKG line, the artist has been kind enough to share this image as stock. Be sure to give it a look and check out the piece they used it for, linked in their artist comment.
fav.me/d59uqvi Blue Beauty by A lovely use of blue and patterns in this photomanipulation. The vibrant cool-red lips pop really well against the blue of the background.
Brushing off the Dust
Hey everyone, It's been a while. I'm brushing off the dust of my portfolio and getting back into the groove. There have been some major changes in my life and art fell by the wayside for a while, but I'm chugging along once more! Expect to see me and artwork on and off in the future! I'm finding art from the last year and uploading it, but my current main project can't be really shared. I'm doing a card series for neonmob.com- I'm crookedlanding over there, if any of you are on that site as well. I'll at least be able to post works in progress from that series/concept sketches, so I'll try to remember to upload those, and I'll be working on
Creating fan art, dusting off the drawing tablet
Hey guys. I know that I kind of fade in and out here. I recently joined tumblr, which I'm rather liking the set up of. I have some art there that I haven't posted here, but I'll try and cross-post my favorites. (I'm having to upload artwork to my phone to get any art uploaded to dA or tumblr. Stupid sluggish wi-fi.) Anyways, I'm in a fan art kick? Don't be surprised if you see a sudden surge in Supernatural and BBC Sherlock art. It's getting me drawing again. I have some original art I'm wanting to do as well, but I've been intimidated lately, which is stupid as heck, so I'm using fan art to make with the happy feelings and getting me back i
Back to drawing and being active
I am now, once again, active on dA. The last few months have been a bit hectic. I was doing NaNoWriMo at one point while having not been at two new jobs long, and then I ended up sticking with only one job once my hours suddenly doubled. Now, I'm a stock lead and I find myself on a pretty regular schedule and am back to taking at least one class at Uni. I'll do my best to keep up with the critique group again and I'm trying to draw frequently again. Just submitted my most recent pieces, which are kind of rough, but that's what I get for going stints without making art and avoiding my drawing tablet. XD
I'm sorry that I'm not very active at the moment y'all. I'm actually working two part time jobs and am participating in NaNoWriMo this month, so I'm pretty busy. I will try to log in more and keep up to date with the group. I'm doing fairly well with my novel at the moment- NaNoWriMo is National Novel writing month, where you write 50,000 words in 30 days. I'm about to hit 9k in a few moments. Wish me luck! Ashley
