Getting Into Character: Zootopia (Chapter 2 of 4)

Jason was the first to regain consciousness from whatever had happened. As he opened his eyes, everything around him was a blur. "Ginnifer! Tiny!" he shouted for his friends and co-stars. "Where are you? Where am I?" He stood up and began walking with his arms extended forward, hoping to find the others or at least a wall that he could follow to the exit. After several steps without locating anything, he stopped and rubbed his eyes. "Ow!" He didn't remember his fingernails having been so long and sharp. He grabbed the chest of his shirt and pulled it upward to rub his eyes through the fabric for protection. After a moment, the blurriness began to clear up. He looked down and then jumped up in fright at the creature he saw lying still on the floor. It was only because it was unexpected and unexplained that he was startled by its presence—he didn't usually have a fear of bunnies. "What the—" he said as he took a few steps back. "How did you get in here? Where'd you get the detailed

Burbank, California Spring 2021 It was the start of another day of recording Zootopia: The Series, the still-secret TV spinoff Disney had ordered based on their 2016 hit film Zootopia. Originally planned to be airing by now on the Disney Channel, a worldwide pandemic in 2020 had caused unexpected delays. "Jason, Ginnifer, Tiny, good to see you this morning," director and writer Byron said to the voices of red fox Nick, gray rabbit Judy, and fennec fox Finnick, who had gathered outside the soundproof recording room. "Good morning," the three said in near unison. Jason took a sip of his coffee. "Remind me, Byron," he said, "which episode are we recording today?" "It's the one where Bellwether and her henchmammals develop a mind-altering substance in prison, one that makes mammals believe they are other species, in an effort to create utter chaos and exact revenge on the city. It's called 'She Otter Know Better' because, as you may recall, her plot fails spectacularly when she

The clock radio turned on at precisely 6:00 a.m., filling the Wilde bedroom with "Welcome to Tujunga" by Guns N' Rodents on the local classic rock station. It had been Nick's turn to set the clock the night before. "Morning, partner!" Judy said as she rubbed the back of the fox who was holding her close. She wriggled out of her husband's embrace to shut off the clock and then returned to his side. She rubbed his back again. "Ready to make the world a better place?" "No," Nick said through a yawn as he stretched his arms above his head. His eyes remained closed. "But in five minutes, I will be." "OK," Judy said as she kissed her fox on the nose. "I'm going to brush my teeth." She hopped off the bed and headed for the bathroom. Nick took a deep breath as he started to open his eyes slowly to allow his night vision to adjust to the natural light. Suddenly, his eyes shot open. Sniff! Sniff! Sniff! He tilted his head downward and started to rapidly brush his chest fur upward with

Nick nudged Judy's foot under the table, one of many in the Hopps dining hall. "Is this a good time, Carrots?" he whispered through the mouthful of steamed carrots with blueberry sauce that Bonnie had made just for him. Judy nodded. She looked at her parents across the table. "Mom, Dad," she said, "Nick and I have something to tell you." The husband and wife put down their forks to give their daughter and her police partner their full attention. "Sure, Jude," Stu said. "What is it, sweetie?" Bonnie asked. Judy scooted her chair a little closer to Nick. She reached out and put her arm around his back. "Nick and I are—" She stopped w

Apologizing for somehow ending up on his tail, Judy quickly stepped off it. In the light in front of the secluded bridge, she dried her eyes with a paw again. "I'm glad we're OK again, Nick, but I don't know how you can forgive me so quickly." Nick nodded lightly in acknowledgement of her statement. "Carrots, do you know how many mammals have hurt me in my life?" Judy shook her head. "No," she said, her voice a sad whisper. "Neither do I. I lost count. But do you know how many have apologized for it?" Again, Judy shook her head. "Come on, Carrots, yes, you do know." "I"—she hesitated—"I suppose it can't be many." Nick held

"Mr. Wilde, yes," Tian, a giant panda, said from behind his desk. "Please have a seat." John sat down in the left of two chairs that faced the warden's desk. A Stitch in Time A Zootopia fanfic Chapter 1: "APEIS" July 14, 2017 Judy stared at the needle the doctor had left on the counter when she had asked him for a final sip of water before the surgery. She rubbed the fur on her nose that would soon be removed and shivered when she imagined the scalpels, scissors, rasps, and other instruments cutting and reshaping her delicate snoot. And yet, she had nothing to fear at all. "OK, Nick," she whispered into the tiny microphone hidden under her purple T-shirt. "Come in. We've got him." Dr. Cunningham, a well-groomed, blue-eyed, medium-built red fox in his mid-sixties, stepped back into the room wi

My Bio

I had my bio the way I wanted it in normal DA, but now I have to do a lot of work on it due to the change to Eclipse.

I am a fan fiction author. I like Zootopia. The rest will have to wait for another time.

Nineteen More Days Until Four More Years!

President Trump talked to Rush Limbaugh for nearly two hours last Friday, October 9. Lots of good stuff here, especially if you know Trump only through how he is portrayed in the biased media. On Monday, October 12—Columbus Day!—the president held his first rally since quickly recovering from COVID-19 in Sanford, Florida (below). Many rallies were held before this one, and many more will be held over these closing weeks. I don't need to write in detail why I will vote for Trump—and every other Republican on my ballot—on November 3. The president himself does a good job of speaking about his accomplishments and the dangers of Joe Biden and Democrat control of America. I hope that enough patriots have the opportunity to truly listen to him, and that they come to the vital conclusion that America needs another four years of Donald J. Trump in the White House. Click here to visit President Trump's website. Click here to make a donation to the campaign. (As I said in July 2019, I do

Did you delete that One-hundred drabblez post about "planned mammalhood"? I know that it is a touchy (and dark) subject, but I do appreciate your writing though.

Nope. The short, "A Mammal's a Mammal," is longer than 100 words, so it's part of my Zootopia Scenes and Shorts collection rather than One Hundred DrabbleZ. You should be able to find it here. I did change my featured deviation at the top left of my profile from "A Mammal's a Mammal" to "Academic Performance," though, since "Academic Performance" is my newest installment of Zootopia Scenes and Shorts.

Thank you for your comments and for reading.

Glad you like my stories. Thanks for the watch.

PoM was the first fandom I was ever involved with. While most of the fandom has faded, the penguins will always have a place in my heart.
