Prompt: Feather
26th February - 11th March

-> Submission Folder <-

Prompt Guidelines

One six word story, per person, per prompt.

The duration of the prompt is subject to change.

The story must include the object/animal/plant/etc., either explicitly or implicitly, as a part of the progression, which means general comparison or description is not recommended.

The theme is open as long as the prompt is mentioned in the story - again, not necessarily directly.

All pieces must follow the universal Guidelines.

The Author's Comments should contain:
SixWordStories' The Thing: (PROMPT)

Past Prompts
Earplug, Keychain, Trumpet, Dandelion, Waterhole, Pincushion, Wallpaper, Cupcake, Teabag, Scarecrow, Glue, Lantern, Flyer, Willow, Hallway, Sunflower, Balloon, Fence, Flute, Butter, Doorbell, Cactus, Freezer, Toothbrush, Pliers, Eggshell, Passport, Mannequin, Sundae, Rake, Cigar, Sandbox, Kaleidoscope, Marshmallow, Yo-yo, Blender, Snowflake, Cabbage, Fireplace, Hourglass, Seedling, Magnet, Dictionary, Chimney, Lipstick, Window, Blog, Bowl, Octopus, Dust, Salad, Razor, Fly, Door, Headphones, Splinter

If you have suggestions for a prompt that we could do, send us a note with the subject The Thing Idea!

Welcome to SixWordStories!

A type of Flash Fiction, six word stories are (very) short stories with an exact word count: six words. SixWordStories is the place where, alongside quality, quantity really does matter. Though these stories are so brief in length, they can be as profound, if not more, than the prose and poetry you see and read every day, partly because six word stories can tell us so much and yet contain so little.

As a Group, we encourage writers to explore their boundaries with prompts, collaborations and more, but we accept anyone and everyone too! Whether you are a digital artist, photographer, or something else entirely, if you can string six words together into a story, this is the place to be!

We will leave you with a thought and conclude this introduction with a well known six word story by Hemingway: "For sale: baby shoes, never worn."

What does that tell you?

Is this group still active? I have you on my watch list and I haven't seen anything new in a while.

I submitted a six-word story a week ago and have heard nothing back... what's the turnaround time supposed to be?

Your page states that any declined submissions will get a reason for being declined. I was not notified why my submission was declined and I sent a request in a note as well. I am still waiting. An answer would be appreciated. Thank you.

Tried to submit to The Thing: Marshmallow
but again... "Submission would exceed the per-folder limit of 1 deviation per 7 days...."

LOL - This IS the very first deviation of mine I try to submit to this folder... :bucktooth:
Would you please request?
