Typed Puggle by SiverCat Typed Puggle by SiverCat
This was part of a typography project we had to do for class. Considering I've never created an illustration from type before this turned out quite well I think. Both the dog, (my parent's dog :) ) and the border are made purely from letters. The border is made of P's and G's in Jokerman and Parchment fonts respectively. The dog I did with a photo as a guideline and she is made from C's, n's, v's, y's, o's and j's. Maybe one or two other letters in there too that I'm forgetting.

Did I get the category right?

I predict this will be copied and dispersed around the web. I think you should've put your initials in there somewhere for proof that it's yours!

I've never had the patience to do this and am envious of those who can. A well deserved favorite!

Do mean that seriously or just complimentary..ily? Though I really don't know where I'd put one...the border takes up the handy dandy corners.

It took some time, though having a background photo as a guideline helped a lot. It was sort of fun and I'm really happy with the result, but I don't think it's something I'll do much.

I mean that seriously. If you could slip in a GM somewhere, at least you know when it's repeated by doglovers worldwide, you could point to it and say, "Yup! It's mine!" On 99% of my full page spreads, I'll sneak my initials in there somewhere. Easily removed but still at some point I'll get credit.

That's really neat! I really like the border.

I wish my type class did something fun like this. We always had to do abstract stuff.

Thank you!
Our teacher is quite broad...he gives us a project and leaves us to interpret it. In this case we had to do 5 different iterations based on different things all using type. This piece is a combination of 'effective repetition' and an illustration. They were separate for the assignment itself, but I combined them to show my parents and then put up here.

Abstract...I'm not a big fan of doing abstract stuff. It's too...um abstract lol. I like a clearly defined goal. (Which made the effective repetition a little hard, but I got a piece of that border from experimenting and realised it'd make a good border.) Oops, I just rambled a bit :giggle:
