This was our final project for one my classes. We had to make a flash site and I chose to do one that would promote a video game, so I pretended that Tales of Fantasy was a game coming out and made a site for it. This was my first time using Flash for a project.

I'm not overly thrilled with the clouds but I wanted something animated on the home page.

On the character page, the characters themselves are the buttons for finding more about each one.

The images in the gallery are thumbnails and can be clicked for larger images.

There is a sound button in the corner but I wasn't able to get it to work, and the music I used for school wasn't my own, so I removed it for use here.

Everything except the 3DS logo and the ESRB logo belong to me.

EDIT: At some point the file here was screwed up, so I'd uploaded it again, but I'd uploaded the wrong file, so I've had an incomplete version sitting here. I've replaced that file with a new one that has had some new changes made: indicator of which page the user is on, moving clouds on the home page and the necklace glows a bit.

Hey! Looks like you were able to get it upon dA afterall, yay!

Rolloevers work nicely, I especially love what you went and did there with the character page for that. Works perfectly, and you can see them actually doing something like that in game when you want to go and interact with one of the characters. The same with the animated clouds on the homepage, it's as though the game intro just finished loading and you're at the starting screen.

The grainy images on the story page are do help them feel as though part of the book, though I think the text needs something to make them more grainy too or perhaps faded. Nice work on the gallery page, included the ability to click on an image and see them enlarged all on the same page. Can see you really put a lot of what you learned about flash in here.

Yes, and easily at that :D.

Ah, excellent, loading screen feel. :D I succeeded! I didn't think to do much with the text, faded might work well, though also have to make sure to keep it readable. The faded images was a sudden thought while I was working that didn't quite extend to the text. I put a lot of work into that puppy, but it was also a matter of pride lol. Still doesn't have quite as much as I wanted, but I was limited by project deadline and my access to Flash.

I want Flash back! :rage: Annnnd then I'd have too many things I wanted to do and my head would explode

=D

Yup, has to be readable, hmm, perhaps a different font choice would give it more of the look to match the faded image. Otherwise they do seem kind of odd next to each other. Maybe erasing random pixels along with a little fading would work as well, kind of like in certain older video games.

Putting together a multi page flash website is quite a bit of work. Assembling the parts and pieces to put it together itself is a lot of work so getting it done and demonstrating what you learned successfully is something you should feel good about  Yeah, I understand that feeling, when I finished mine I had thought the same thing... if only I had Flash I could do so much more! I still wish I had Flash too. lol, well, at least your head won't explode at any rate :P

You know, it took me a few minutes trying to figure out how to play this game before noticing the 3DS sign, and then scrolling down to see what all of this was really about.

In other words, EXCELLENT job! How long did it take you to do this? There are loads of things I like about this, but I think it's the Story section, with the grainy art, that really caught my attention. As opposed to the rest of the 3D Blender pictures xD

I don't know how long it took...It was a school project and I started quickly but had a gap for other more urgent projects. A long time hehe. The story section has 3D art too >.>...just filters applied :D. It turned out well though. Thank you!!

Oh wow! This was fun!! I found everything you said but not by reading your description but by simply trying it out. I love things that are intuitive. It's one of those games that would work right away and have us holding our breath for the next "easter egg"!

However, I checked. There was a mistake.

This game wasn't released on April 29th and now there are a bunch of pissed off gamers waiting to play the lastest D&D game! :D

I just wanted to make sure things weren't missed so I put them in the description /shameless self advertisement lol. I'm very glad it was intuitive though. That's the way it should be.

Hehehe, I wish this was a real game :D. A loooong way to go for that to ever happen. It was fun to do though and got an excuse to look rpg game flash sites that have been done before as research :giggle: Final Fantasy especially got looks from me.

Thank you!! Glad to finally actually have something new for you to see :D

I'm glad too. It was so sad when you didn't have anything new. I would look at your gallery and sigh in disappointment as I wondered if you'd retired

Shameless self advertisement? I'm just glad you have it in you. How hard was flash to learn? I'm sad to say I don't know the first thing about it. Between you and I, I'm working on animation and it is painstaking to do alone. It does make me wonder just what flash really is.

Oh I can't imagine ever retiring. But there were very long gaps due to school and stress. I feel bad with Tales of Fantasy as well, and really need to get back to it :(. I do have another unrelated piece in the works. I just need to finish it off. And three months left to go on the calendar now that I finally got February complete.

We only really scratched the surface of Flash. We'll be learning more next year, but basic stuff isn't too hard. I'm looking forward to learning more. I just wish I owned the program. I just had a trial version which has now run out, so I won't get to play with it over the summer :(.

What are you using for animation? And will we ever get to see any of it? *hint hint nudge nudge* I imagine it must be painstaking. Other than a bit of Flash, I've been scared to really dive into learning some myself. Eventually Blender and I will meet over animation...eventually.

I got a free version of Anime Studio 4. They were giving it away for a while in hopes of people buying or upgrading to Anime Studio 5. Apparently they misunderstood the depths of how cheap I am so I'm using that for now.

What I'm really sick about is that I missed getting Vue Pioneer for 7 dollars. A one time week long sale that I missed. It's movie quality 3D action! Let me see what I can do with what I have. It will be a while before I release anything. I'm still testing and I would love to come up with a voice for O-ne Chi. I don't know about you but I can hear the female voice in my head when I write her character. It should have an "almost" british accent rather than japanese as I think in english (if that makes sense). Do you have an accent?

I understand about Tales of Fantasy and Companion. School has to take precedence. It's your future. I had stopped my original tale to answer questions about what I'm doing with stories rather than words but it also gave me a chance to practice things I had never done before. Things that will serve me well when I get back on my timeline.

Ya Adobe ANYTHING costs bucks. I'm using Photoshop CS2 for my work, like Adobe Flash they are up to at least Creative Suite 5. I just checked and a student edition is about 80% percent off which would make your price Almost 200 bucks. That's a lot of bread unless you intend to master and market your skills.

Stay with your dreams, Gwen. Whatever you want to do, you can do.

There are often not a lot of changes between versions anyway though it does depend on the program. There were a couple of programs I was bouncing between CS5 and CS4 for. CS5 for trials at home and CS4 at school, though the school is upgrading to CS5 for next year I believe.

Oh there's nothing like missing such a good opportunity for cheap good programs :(. Hopefully what you have is doing it for you. If I'm understanding what you're imagining, then I can picture O-ne's voice roughly. She has a "cultured" accent as Charlene just put it :D. I never think of myself as having an accent but I suppose I'd have a Canadian one?

I think I may be getting back to Tales soon. Things are starting to percolate again which is nice and inspiring.

I'm getting a student loan for my second year of school. I'm hoping to be able to use it some of it to get Adobe's Design Premium. I really want the programs as they're the ones we're using at school. It's nice to have access to them at home and not just in the computer lab. I also want them for my own future especially Dreamweaver and Flash I think.

One correction would be the history/system/features buttons. You should deactivate them once you click them. :3 To not make the same effect, not too stetic indeed. I loved the characters section when i put my mouse over it and they talked to me! :la: AWESOME!

I did have a lot of fun, though some frustration too. We used action script 2 so there were behaviours that made it easier. I'm not sure what you mean by deactivate. Show that they've been pressed or only allow once? I'm thinking you mean just show that they were pressed to indicate where you are, which I should have done. Unfortunately I'm not sure how exactly to go about doing that and I only had a trial version of Flash with is done now :(.

I had fun with the characters section :D. Probably my favourite part.

These characters are part of my style at least for now. I'm still not really skilled with Blender and I like making lil' people anyway. Eventually I'll have something more complex I'm sure. I also needed these here as they are the characters from my comic, so consistency.

Thanks for the comments!

Ohh yeah i know what you mean about furstration indeed, i know how is programing something with action script, the it comes a mistake and you have to look for it. Find the errors and all that stuff. Why don't you download a portable version of flash cs5? It is a great plus and help to you. :3 I think that the buttons should be pressed once when you access to that feature. And the character section was the most interesting part of your proyect.

Now i see why, well your people is very good i see. You are welcome for it my friend. :3

WHoah, such a VERY BIG proyect, very impressive dedication i can see here. :wow: Lot's of action script indeed. You had lot of fun doing it indeed.
Why don't you try doing more "complex" characters? All i see are just balls and cubes. Nice effect with clouds and the photo gallery. :dummy:
