Alright, so I've been experimenting with this new clay. Its a self hardening clay, so it will save on the costs of firing. The nintendo piggy banks so far have been mostly practice models, but the two that have come from that are completely functional. I just finished a Boo! Before that, a Bob-omb. The key turns and comes out so you can pour out the money (totally my husbands idea), and the boo just has a hole on the bottom. The Boo money dispensing design was a little sloppy, but I learned a lot from it. I was hoping to have enough done before Christmas so that I could have a show and sell them at Bookmans (where I work), but they take a while to make. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I think my next one will either be a coin block or a mushroom. Pictures will be up soon
Im also accepting commissions for piggy banks if anyone is interested. I feel I can do just about anything within reason (ie complexity of the characters, I might have to make chibi forms ect...) once I get really comfortable with this clay and its drying time, Im gonna make a samus and master chief busts. Also as soon as I get a fair amount of inventory, I plan on selling them on Etsy.com. Im mostly just really happy to be back into art. Sculpting was something I did for only a couple classes, so I didnt get burned out on it. I really enjoy it, and Im having fun. I think its going to help me overcome the mental barrier I built up over the last year and a half, after graduation. Im making a come-back, one piggy bank at a time, lol!!!
