feels a little odd to submit to the "emotive portraits" gallery when I'm not myself sure of what emotion I'm actually expressing here. maybe you can give me a hint?

canon ps g5 1/80 s @ ~f4.5 ~40mm equivalent.
altered white balance to 8000K, desaturated -80% & added contrast & sharpness & other adjustments in ps cs camera raw.
resized, ©-texted & framed in ps cs.

subject is me.

Great self-portrait. When my youngest daughter was about five this was a lot like her reaction to discipline. We got sound effects though - she'd growl at us.

I really enjoy how you work with light and shadow in this pictur, it works really well. You should try and work with this more!
sirlatrom's avatar
I surely will, but it requires sunlight through the window and some new semi-transparent tracing paper. But I surely will work with this kind of photos more.

Sorry I'm a little late responding to this one.
Thanks for the favourite, and I appreciate you like some of what I've made.

It's light and darkness...good and evil. I love it!

Yes, it's the typical and most ever used contrast. Glad you like it :)
Oh, and thanks for the fav.

.great...love that b&w separation...

thanks :) actually the white's not white, so it would be called monochrome as far as I know. gives the same effect anyway :P

.you're welcome.. :) ..you've got me there...it surely isn't a b&w photo...but i'm not so sure of the term 'monochrome'...-i thought this would only be used for 'onecolorpics' (or pics with different shadings of one color)...so in this case i could imagine that it's more something like 'duochrome' or something like that... :p
sirlatrom's avatar
oh yes, you're right :) so this would just be a toned b/w photo actually :P

This one is interesting...
I love that contrast in the background. Lighting is great.
Title is very good for this pose and face expression.
Neat composition.
demony's avatar
no, i said that the composition is neat, like regular and simple. and that's fine. :)

somehow it seemed to me that it's a presentation of one specific mixure of emotions - a situation when you're on a verge to start to blame yourself (for something) but your protective system is not letting you do that...
and, yeah, i can relate to that
sirlatrom's avatar
I'm glad you like it :) I guessed you'd like this one because my expression isn't as numb as in some of my other photos :P
what's so good about the composition, by the way? I mean I can see the typical dark/light contrast, but what else?
can you associate with the emotion in this photo, or what breaks the illusion?
