Very nice photo.

I like how his face is so expressive. All those lines and wrinkles in his face tell that he has experienced a lot.
Again, this works best in B&W. And I like it how the person is the only thing in focus, I think it would take away from the picture if the background would be in focus aswell.

Is this your grandfather? :)

Thank you for saying so. :)

I agree with you, although I wish I had chosen an even shorter depth of field so as to get an even more blurred background.

No, I chose the title "A grandfather" because he's not mine. But if I didn't have one already, I'd like him to be alone from his look at this photo :)

hmm, I like this one more than the other, because of the more on details on his face.
The deep of field is okay and the contrasts between the foreground and the backround are enough.
Also the sharpness is very good.
I think the b/w fits the mood of this photograph. I like that big bushy beard ;)
and the small eyes.

Yes, I like it better too :) The cropping is film-like, I think because it concentrates on his face and doesn't really care about his hat :P
I didn't think or even know much about depth of field back then (it's a little old), but I'm glad it turned out good :) Yeah, his beard rocks! :D Thanks for commenting!
