started life as a pencil drawing, colored in PS

This little piece started as a sketch of some sort of artifact while I was watching tv.
That got me thinking about doing an image like an archaeological infographic.
It progressed from there. All the line work was done in pencil and then pulled into PS.
As I was doing a sort of aged older look to it I got the idea to do a sort of hand-tinted look to parts of it like some old rendering.
Thus, the color to the fragment and the water in the inset map.

I am sure I will do some more images like this as it was a lot of fun to work on. :)

Fantastic!
I love how you subtly incorporate the different parts (detail, overview, caves and text) into one drawing.

Your art is great and I love your cartography best of all.  Your maps are beautiful and playable, which is not always the case.  I introduced my son and several of his friends to RGPs a few years ago and they now play every chance they get - D&D, Pathfinder, and their own homebrew game which is based in Bourmout.  They have populated the town with interesting characters and have used it for several adventures.  So - thank you!

Oh man, that is so cool. Thanks for that Tim :D
That reminds me that I need to put up a map sometime soon that shows some of these locations in reference to each other.

Love this style.  I'm going to have to try something like this one day with my maps.  Especially like how you've combined three views into one, to make a full piece.

Thanks for the link!  I adore maps, but have only started branching out in that direction -- my stuff is really basic at the moment.  Can't wait to see more of your work, and I'll look into joining once I have something to share :D

Excellent map/artwork, J! You always put so much into your work. Love it :D

The fragment looks like it holds a secret map of the tunnels and rooms. Even if it doesn't, is still fun to think of and imagine deeper mysteries. :)

Yes, it does sort of look a bit like some of the twists and turns of the burial chambers.

Such a cool idea ! And the subtle texture you added to the artifact is great as always. Two maps in one and the artifact itself seems to hold the key to a crooked path. Great job !
