Good Grief!

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 19, 2017, 6:57 AM
Really? Almost a year since I updated my journal? I used to be such an annoyingly prolific journal writer!

I'm dabbling in many things including learning how to paint on some of my woodwork. I haven't been doing much writing, mainly due to lack of time, but of course I'm always writing in my head. I'm just too lazy to get it down into actual print.

I'm also working a new cross-stitch pattern that will be for sale in my Etsy shop.

I got chickens! They're about a month old now and I need to seriously get to work building their chicken coop. I ordered the supplies this morning from Home Depot because -they- can walk around the store gathering all my junk for me and I will happily pick it up.

Chickies! by sioranth

So that's what's going on in my world as summer moves in there in southern MD.

Sort of. lol There's a new Runeclaw story up but it's a short one. I really need to get in game and interact more and actually go do some stuff. I have a lot of ideas but I'm not sure how to move ahead with them just yet. I got one good on the back burner, just trying to figure out how to open the door for it.

Hot damn I am feeling awesome today! I feel uplifted and like I can fly. It's amazing what one little thing can do to turn a whole mood around. :) I feel another Runeclaw story in the works and I've started a tumblr for her as well. I don't have a lot of time to write these days and I've never been one of those people who can write a little bit, walk off for a while, and come back to it later (probably why I suck at novels). Once I start writing I feel like I can't stop until it's all finished which is why Runeclaw is perfect.

Thank goodness!! I am so ready for fall! Pumpkins! Foliage! Halloween! Bring it on!

I did some biking in PA over the 4th of July holiday and got some nice pics, and I also did a little writing recently as well as finishing two woodworking projects. The weather is still kind of unbearable here in MD but I've been taking a walk after the sun goes down which I call my "Pokewalk" since I'm playing PokemonGo while walking. Blinking Charmander Avatar Last night I burned over 400 calories and caught 5 new Pokemon as well as hit 3 Pokestops and won a battle at a gym.

Anyway, I hope I'll be feeling more like venturing out with my camera when the humidity isn't so bad. My lenses always fog up and so it's not worth bothering right now.

It's killing me! Summer sun is nice (after like 3 weeks straight of rain) but I could do without the air being liquid.

Oh, but check out this flippin' awesome Jimmy Buffet bike I got! There is a bottle opener on the frame and the parrot honks! It says, "It's 5 o'clock somewhere" on the frame, too. I am so in love with this thing. It's my first (and only) cruiser style bike but even I like to take it easy sometimes. It was perfect for riding up to the post office today to mail something.

I really feel like I need to write something. I've got all this pent-up stuff inside me right now and it really needs to be expressed, but the words just won't come out right. I keep trying and then I reread and it all just sounds stupid or trite or confusing.

I got a new horse coming today!

I still haven't written Runeclaw's anniversary story. I've been very busy lately with two horses and enjoying the lovely weather we've been having. I also met someone and he's kind of amazing. ;)

It's been 8 years since Runeclaw's inception and she's had a wild ride over that time. She's been up and she's been down and her brother is STILL missing (because over all these years I've never found anyone to RP the character). Perhaps this will be a year of change for the fluff-head! Will she find her tribe? Her brother? Romance? Every potential possibility is spread out before her as she travels new lands and old. I still have things I want to accomplish both OOC and IC with Runeclaw (including WrA rep and Cenarion rep). She's always been a bit of a xenophobe, preferring to stick with other Tauren, so maybe the coming year will bring new friendships with other races that will expand her tiny horizons.

First and foremost though...she'll be going back to where it all began - Thunderbluff during the Love Is In The Air event. Stay tuned!

There's a Runeclaw story a'comin' and perhaps the start of a long-awaited romance in the little Dragglehoof's life.  :bademoticon:

I have several of my woodworking items available for purchase right now through my Etsy shop including the Yin Yang Box, Shark Box, Victorian Pumpkin, and Victorian Halloween Plaque.

I got my cast off but my wrist is still rehabbing and regaining motion. Ortho said it could take 4 to 6 weeks. No worries about taking it easy since I'm sick now.  October is supposed to be a good, happy month! :D

I've got some woodworking projects in the works and a few I still need to photograph. I'm gearing up for making holiday gifts and ornaments.

So, it took a few days but I got a cast on today. My arm is broken in two places. I get the cast off in mid-October. At least it's a cool hazard orange color.

I'm A Gimp

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 28, 2015, 6:46 AM
So, I fell off my horse last night, totally my fault, and I stupidly put my arm out to break my fall. I think the only thing I broke was my ulna, so I'm off to the doctor today to get an x-ray and see if I did indeed manage to break myself. Maybe if I'm lucky she'll give me some good painkillers too because Aleve isn't doing squat.

In the meantime, I have my entire lower arm wrapped up like a mummy and my fingers and hand look like they belong to the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man or are perhaps morphing into sausages.

I've never broken anything before so I hope that I at least can pick a super cool color cast if it is broken. Then I need local artists to turn it into a work of art! :D

Current Projects

Journal Entry: Wed Aug 26, 2015, 3:07 AM
I'm in the middle of refurbishing my loom. The stripping is finished and I'm in the process of sanding now. Once that's done, it's just a matter of staining, replacing most of the hardware, and buffing up the hardware I'm keeping. I am very much looking forward to finishing this project and actually getting to use the loom again.

I still have to paint my tack box as well as cut the nameplate and a decorative horse head for it. I'm debating trying a glazing technique for the outside of the box with a purple base and an orange glaze. I'm just not sure which technique I'd like to do yet, if I do one at all.

I have a few ideas of things I'd like to weave once the loom is completed. Really, I just need more free time.

The weather is starting to cool off here and so I've been spending a lot of my extra time going out riding. I'm working with a boarder's two QH right now. One is a dream to work with and the other is a brat. I'm also still working on trying to get Mo to gait. I think he was doing it on our ride the other day, but it's hard to say when I'm up in the saddle and we're on grass (can't hear hoof beats). It definitely felt different though and was not a trot or pace.

The rest of the time I'm playing WoW or Rift as I have new RP contacts in both games.

Off to work I go!

This past weekend I went to a classic car show kind of spur of the moment. It was being held at a local Humane Society as an annual fundraiser event. While there, DiscordedGirl wanted to go see the kitties and I wanted to go look at the dogs. That's where I found "Bella," an 8-year-old silver sable GSD with all her ribs showing and a broken ear. As I already own two GSDs, my heart was crushed for this poor girl. After spending some time with her outside I decided to adopt her, and before I knew it, she was in the car coming home with us.

In the four days she's been home, she has slowly come out of her shy, submissive shell. She has learned that food is in abundance here and eagerly seeks all treats, snacks, and meals as I try to put some much-need weight back on her. She is learning it's okay to lay on the nice soft furniture even though there are also dog beds all over the place. She is learning that she will get nothing but positive reinforcement here and loves to please in return.

However, she does need to see a vet for a routine checkup and also to biopsy/remove a growth on her hip (which I believe is benign). She also needs a heartworm test (which will hopefully be negative). Since I wasn't exactly planning on getting a dog this past weekend, I am short on funds needed to get her evaluated for the growth specifically. I have started a GoFundMe campaign in the hopes of raising a small amount of money to help defray the costs. Last time I took my two GSDs to the vet for their annual shots and exam it was a whopping $900. Gotta love living in the suburbs of a major metropolitan area.

Feel free to share this blog if you feel it might help.
