Description
Though it feels like ages ago, the Browns only made Nancy write the note about half an hour ago. Carson quickly suggests they try to catch them and drives Nancy home at high speed, with Ned left behind to find her car. Fearing the Browns have the map, Nancy is tense on the journey home.
Once back, Nancy's disappointed at first when Hannah says Mrs. Brown was there just ten minutes ago.
“You gave her the map?” Nancy asked.
“That was what you requested me to do,” the housekeeper responded.
“Yes, I did. Oh, I can’t blame you. You had no way of knowing that I didn’t want you to carry out the instructions.”
“All the same, I guessed it from the wording in your note,” the housekeeper declared, ending the suspense. “I gave Mrs. Brown a map, but it will never do her and her husband any good. And it serves them right.”
“Oh, Hannah, you’re wonderful!” Nancy laughed happily and hugged her.
Even better, Ned calls later to say he found her car, but that he's also calling from the police station where the Browns are in custody on kidnapping charges!
Of course, the Browns aren't the only villains in the story, and Nancy and her friends encounter heaps more danger when they embark on the treasure-hunting cruise that ends the book. Bess is pushed overboard, and Nancy is tied inside a tarp and thrown into sea. But, of course, the girl detective triumphs in the end, restoring the treasure to its rightful owners. Yay!
The Happy Ending
in two parts
An excellent wrap up to this adventure
Regarding the first image
Nancy and her Father drive home " at high speed " I suspect Mr Drew was crowding the speed limit
Nancy does look very tense and concerned ( which make perfect sense ) She is worried that the Browns will grab that crucial clue I am also wondering that Nancy might be worried about Hannah's safety as she will be confronting Fred and Irene alone She already knows how crafty and ruthless they can be
I happily note that Nancy has reclaimed brooch I do appreciate that detail
Regarding the second picture
Nancy happily embraces Hannah The sharp minded house keeper saw the clue ( ...give the COPY ... ) in Nancy's note and reacted accordingly I also wonder if Hannah was a bit suspicious of a stranger showing up unannounced and unexpected with a brief note from Nancy ( long over due ) asking that that the valuable clue be turned over to this unknown person
Really enjoyed this adventure
